Next, the rule changes for this season

The race calendar will be cut to 16 races, to make it a little easier on the paddock. Here’s the new order

Melbourne
Sepang
Shanghai
Monaco
Catalunya
Valencia Street Circuit
Montreal
Sliverstone
Hungaroring
Spa
Monza
Singapore
Suzuka
Interlagos
Bahrain (the short layout) that we are been using anyway, because grandprix2.de doesn't have the long layout, thanks klon for bringing it to attention!
Abu Dhabi

The points system will be changed to 20-15-11-8-6-5-4-3-2-1.

Qualifying rules

Despite all of the new entries, the race grid will still be capped at 26 cars, due to the limitations of Grand Prix 2, which means the qualifying process will be changed for the first time in this alternate universe. A Pre-Q session will be held initially among the seven successful new entries and the three lowest teams in the 2008 team’s standings. The teams that will have to participate in the Pre-Q session will be updated after every 4 races and it will involve the bottom 10 teams in the team’s standings. Hence, the reason why the points system got changed, because of the added possibility of being demoted to Pre-Q.

Testing

One pre-season test will be conducted at Catalunya, and then you can post your first upgrades before the season opener. After that, three in-season tests will happen. They will take place after the races at Catalunya, Spa, and Bahrain.

Upgrade rules

As for the upgrades, the only change that was made was the removal of Engine power and replacing it with KERS power. Please note, if you don’t have KERS installed, you can’t do the KERS power upgrade obviously. The other four areas are still unchanged. They are, Qual. pace (makes the car quicker in Qualifying runs), Race Pace (makes the car quicker in Race conditions), Aero (increases the overall consistency of the car), and Reliability (decreases the failure rate). One area will cost you $500k, and two areas will cost you $900k.

Good luck!

Hey, welcome back! One question for you, do you want to use KERS at a cost of $10 million or not? I went to RNG and it came out to be a even number so you are taking over DAMS, Good luck!

And yes, for Normal 32, that's some positive thinking you got over here! Hope it comes out true! :)

Epsilon Euskadi seems nice.
I'll take them and maybe I'll start looking for a Basque driver.

Thanks.
Yeah, let's have some KERS.
(Are there any Basque drivers better than Ander Vilarino and Anthony Gandon? I don't believe they could make the cut, comes driver selection :D)

For Reject_Dom, Novitopoli and AdrianBelmonte_ do you want to spend $10 million on KERS?

And just in case, you haven't noticed on the opening post, we will be using the Short version of Bahrain, because as Klon hinted at the long version doesn't exist on the site grandprix2.de. That was a massive facepalm on my part.

Finally, one team is open, so if you are interested to join, hurry up!

Bidding information:

Well, it certainly took a while to fill up the open slots! But they got filled, so yay for us, which means we get to move to the bidding!

Step 1: Chassis Tiers

Well, this determines your initial reliability stat, so pick wisely, because to be able to score points, first you must finish!

Tier 1: $25 million
Tier 2: $22 million
Tier 3: $19 million
Tier 4: $16 million
Tier 5: $13 million
Tier 6: $10 million

Step 2: Engine bids

Well, for beginners the Engine power is sealed after putting an air restrictor as of this season, so pick wisely. But keep in mind, if you do decide to use KERS, the amount of extra power will be done via RNG, set from 50-100, so factor that in as well.

Anyways, each engine maker can now supply a maximum of 3 teams due to the extra teams joining in.

Ferrari $17.5 million Prefers Prodrive
Renault $14 million Prefers Williams
Mercedes $14 million Prefers McLaren
BMW $12 million Prefers Carlin
Honda $11 million
Spyker $10.5 million Prefers MSR
Toyota $10 million Prefers Force India
Cosworth $10 million

Step 3 Driver bids

Well, this is when it gets fun, you can bid for up to 3 drivers for each race seat, but you can’t sign a reserve driver, which means if one of your drivers gets injured, which can still happen in this series, you must sign another one who is out as a free agent. Obviously, according to the entry list, Toyota already got their two drivers under contract, and Force India needs to sign only one driver. Everyone else needs to somehow sign two drivers.

Michael Schumacher $10 million Demands #1 status
Fernando Alonso $9 million Demands #1 status
Robert Kubica $8 million Defending WDC, demands #1 status
Lewis Hamilton $7 million Demands #1 Status
Kimi Raikkonen $6 million Demands #1 status
Nick Heidfeld $5 million
Felipe Massa $4 million
TImo Glock $3 million
Pedro De La Rosa $2 million
Jarno Trulli $1.5 million
Nico Rosberg $1 million
Rubens Barichello $0.9 million
Giancarlo Fisichella $0.8 million (This is going to be his final season in F1, hence the discount)
Heikki Kovalainen $0.75 million
Christian Klien $0.7 million
Jenson Button $0.65 million
Giorgio Pantano $0.6 million The 2008 GP2 series champion, looking for an another crack at F1
Nelson Piquet $0.6 million
Alvaro Parente $0.6 million
Javier Villa $0.55 million
Jose Maria Lopez $0.55 million
Nico Hulkenberg $0.55 million
Mark Webber $0.5 million (coming back from injury, hence the discount)
Sebastien Bourdais $0.5 million
Kaz Nakajima $0.5 million
Jaime Algersauri $0.5 million
Jerome D’Ambrosio $0.45 million
Romain Grosjean $0.45 million
Luca Filippi $0.45 million
Bruno Senna $0.4 million
Sebastien Buemi $0.4 million
Lucas Di Grassi $0.4 million
Andy Soucek $0.35 million
Stefano Coletti $0.35 million
Davide Valsecchi $0.35 million
Mike Conway $0.3 million
Adam Carroll $0.3 million
James Rossiter $0.3 million
Kazuya Oshima Discount off Toyota Engines
Pastor Maldonado PD $6 million
Narain Karthikeyan PD $5.5 million
Karun Chandhok PD $5 million
Ho-Pin Tung PD $4.5 million
Vitaly Petrov PD $4 million
Giedo Van Der Garde PD $3.5 million
Adrian Sutil PD $3 million

Finally, you must send your bids via PM! Good luck!

US F1 will gamble and go for a Tier 3 chassis with good old fashioned 'Murican Cosworth engines.

Alternatively, how much would it cost us to just enter a pair of toasters on wheels? We have a warehouse full of em just sitting there. :geek:

Do we have to choose from the list? Only we would like to remain the ultimate 'Murican national team and bid for a suiting driver lineup. :D

Alternatively, how much would it cost us to just enter a pair of toasters on wheels? We have a warehouse full of em just sitting there. :geek:

I bet Osella still has some sort of copyright over the name. :D

We'll be fine. It's Canon, non Kodak.

In terms of choosing drivers. Yes, you must choose from the list, at least initially during the first batch of bids. If I ended needing to conduct a second round of bids, then maybe we can expand the list just a little bit! Thanks for asking!

EDIT: I still have NOT received bids from the following teams as of right now: Ferrari, Renault, MSR, Carlin, Red Bull (which still needs someone to take over), Lola, and US F1 which has posted Engine and Chassis bids but no drivers bids yet. And before you are wondering if Red Bull will be on the grid in 2009, this is just in!

BREAKING NEWS: Red Bull decides to sell 33% of the team to Alexander Wurz and the Superfund group!

In Milton Keyes, the much troubled Red Bull team finally found some new money thanks to Superfund and Alex Wurz. According to the early PR releases from the team, the team name will NOT change, but in exchange of Alex Wurz taking over day-to-day management of the team on track, he will bring $3 million to the team, while Superfund will contribute $16.1 million for this season, bringing their current budget to $30 million. In addition, rumors are spreading that they are willing to sign Kazuya Oshima and with it free Toyota Engines. The identity of their other race driver remains to be determined.

Re: KL-racer's F1 Management 2009: ENGINE BIDS!

Post by KL-racer »

Engine Bids

Okay, I have given you guys more than enough time to send bids to me. Since no one else has bothered to send bids in over the past few days. I have made a tough decision to "fill" the missing bids for them. Yes, you know who you are that didn’t send in bids in a timely fashion! The only reason why I have to do this right now, is that my job resumes on the fifth of august and as you may know my job is kind of busy sometimes, and I want to get all of the bids and the pre-season test done before that date. Anyways, here’s the engine RNG’S for you guys to read through. And if you did send in bids to me, good job on your part to remember to do so!

Ferrari

Well, Ferrari supplies Ferrari of course! And it so happens that Campos will use Ferrari’s in 2009 being the only other team that had it as their first choice.

Renault

Obviously, Renault supplies themselves and since Williams decided to bid on them. They will take the second batch of Renault engines. The final batch of these engines will go to either Force India or McLaren, with Force India bidding $1 million more than McLaren. It’s a 70-30 split on this one

Force India 1-70, McLaren 71-100

The number is . . . 83, so McLaren ends their 13-year partnership with Mercedes and jumps to Renault!

Mercedes

Only two teams happened to bid for Mercedes motors: Force India and Prodrive, so they both will get them!

BMW

Sauber will obviously get these engines, they are the works team. Carlin will also get them being a preferred customer after scoring their first points last season. Which means one more batch remains, which goes to Epsilon Esukadi.

Honda

Honda supplies themselves, and three other teams bid for these motors, but only two will get them. These three teams were, Brawn GP, Manor and Caterham.

Here’s the first RNG

Brawn GP 1-50, Manor 51-75, Caterham 76-100

The number is . . . 91, so Caterham will use Honda’s.

Here’s the second RNG

Brawn GP 1-75, Manor 76-100

Number is . . . 54 so Brawn GP will get the final batch of Honda's

Spyker

Odd that the only team that bid for Spyker’s V8 was MSR. So they are still the only team to use Spyker’s V8 for the time being

Toyota

Toyota supplies Toyota, duh. In addition, Red Bull will get their Toyota engines for Free by signing Kazuya Oshima to a race seat.

Cosworth

Finally, Cosworth had three bidders for their engines. Lola, DAMS and US F1. All three will get these motors at list price of $10 million.

Which means that Manor has no engine deal from this RNG, after subtracting their Chassis bid, they have $12 million left, so which means they can either buy Toyota’s or Spyker’s at list price. I am guessing reject_dom you want the Toyota engine? Anyways after he answers this question we are off to the driver bids!

That ain't true! Spyker was my #2 bid in hopes of using them badged as Saab, if BMW turned us down. They didn't... I guess those mail bombs will remain in Azkoitia.

Looks like the idea to attract a good pay driver with the premise of a #1 seat didn't work too well though. At least van der Garde received no other bids.

We'd like to designate our 1st F1 chassis as the Euskadi eeL in reference to its preseason performance. :pantano:
