Infinite Improbability Drive of the Race - 2015 Mexico

Post by Shizuka »

based on the assumption that, at any moment in time, there is a non-zero probability that even the slowest, most inexperienced and least reliable of underdogs might win the race. That under every rock, there might be a gold nugget. This is the award for that first podium that we all celebrate, for the overtake no-one was expecting, for Ericsson's first win. This is the award, in short, for the driver or team that makes you go "Woah! Where did THAT come from?!".

Just remember: this is a feel-good award, that will focus on nothing but track action.
Usual rules: everyone gets two votes. First vote is worth 10 points, the second 6.

Post your results until November 7

1. Tyre Whisperer aka Sergio Perez - Didn't pit on the safety car, still finished 8th.
2. Nico Hulkenberg

1. Daniil Kvyat - His strongest ever drive, and a great way to rebound from a wasted opportunity a week ago.
2. Sergio Perez - How???

Not too special drives from anyone really, so I'm going to nominate 2 Germans who have beaten their teammates for the first time in a while.

1. Rosberg
2. Hulkenberg

1. Sergio Pérez: Kept eighth place with ancient tires. Well done!
2. Valtteri Bottas: Pretty much gets it by default. Nice podium and he also got revenge on Kimi. :D

IIDOTR never really stood out for me during the race. And then this happened on the ROTR thread...

Simtek wrote:Sebastian Vettel - To see a mistake from Seb is like a dog that speaks - very rare. To see him make as many mistakes as he did today is like a dog that speaks Norwegian - even rarer.

So I'm nominating Simtek for being more getting my brain out of the stickiest situation since Sticky the stick insect got stuck on a sticky bun.

Nico Hülkenberg - finally decided not to lose his cool this time and actually deliver a good result.
Daniil Kvyat - managed to string together a strong performance from end-to-end, which we hadn't seen in a while.

I won't nominate Pérez, because we've known he's the Master of Rubber (...phrasing?) since his début :P

1) Valtteri Bottas: Managed to beat Red Bulls and get third place despite that crash with Räikkönen.

2) Uhmm... I really can´t think anyone else who did better than expected but I guess I give this one to Nico Rosberg just because he finally managed to beat Hamilton.

1.) Stadium section of the track.

Yes it is mickey mouse, (although tame compared to the rest of the circuit) but hearing the crowd roar over the cars as Checo passed Max made me forget how terrible the rest of this circuit was.

2) Pirelli Somberos!

1. Rosberg's attempt at a consistently strong race.
2. Red Bull's drivers for racking in the points consistently while their jobs may or may not be at stake.
