Just 5 of you left to nominate.
Ice1Racing
Klon
Bleu
Reject_Dom
Andrew

Since I need to start preparing for the season opener for the end of this month, I'll be running the first test day on Friday whether all of you have nominated or not. I'll be choosing drivers for any that haven't by then.

Making a change. There will be 32 nations in each division which will make for even numbered car counts for all three divisions. So top 32 nations across all the tests will make A1GP etc. Also the amount of nations being promoted/relegated between divisions each season will increase to five.

Some notes first before I show the Day 1 results.

Poland - I've moved Artur Janosz to Day 3 as Robert Kubica would be on his way to Monaco for WRC that day. So Kubica drives on Day 1 instead.

Wales - Elfyn Evans like Kubica would also be on route to Monaco on Day 3 so I have GP3 driver Seb Morris provisionally in for that day unless you can think of a different driver to use before I run that session.

Reject_Dom and Dexter249 I didn't see your nominations before I ran the session so I'll make the following adjustments to your schedules.

Switzerland - I happened to try putting Fabio Leimer in the car for Day 1 which matches your posted plans so no changes there.

Czech Republic - I had Tomas Enge in the car for Day 1 so Jan Charouz's first session will be Day 2 instead.

Serbia - I had Milos Pavlovic in for Day 1 so Dusan Borkovic will take Day 2 instead.

Greece - I had Alexandros Margaritis in for Day 1 so Alexandros Annivas will take Day 3 instead.

Peru - I had Rodrigo Pflucker in for Day 1 so Christian Kobashigawa will have to sit out this session unless you have him replace one of your other drivers.

88. TUR Jason Tahinci - 23 +2.212
89. UKR Igor Sushko - 16 +2.359
90. AZE Fakhraddin Mirzoev - 12 +2.433
91. TWN Jem Chen - 13 +2.438
92. PAK Umair Ahmed Khan - 19 +2.625

95. QAT Abdulaziz Al-Kuwari - 13 +3.124
96. LKA Dilantha Malagamuwa - 22 +3.304

So finally we reach the end of pre-season testing and the fields for 2016 have been set. Vergne managed to pip Germany's Rosberg looking like France would finally win a session only for Australia's Power to outdo them at the last minute. Nevertheless, France finishes the pre-season with by far the highest average performance having come 2nd in all three days at Austin. Will Power's performance in the final day allows Australia to pip Brazil for second on countback with New Zealand and Mexico rounding out the top five.

Malaysia in the final session managed to qualify for A1 at the expense of South Africa while Wales just barely misses out on making A2.

Re: A1GP 2016 - Preseason Complete, Nominate for SA Grand Pr

Post by Samster »

Well the South African A1 Grand Prix on the Durban Street Circuit is scheduled for this weekend though since that is only a few days away and as there is quite a gap till the next Grand Prix after that, I will give you till Monday midnight GMT to nominate your driver for South Africa. You may also plan ahead for future races too if you wish to get that out of the way.

As well as your driver you will also need to decide on a strategy for both qualifying and the race. Details are shown below.

Qualifying - Each nation gets one flying lap. You simply need to choose between conservative or aggressive. Choosing aggressive will give your driver a wider range of performance meaning that they can potentially go faster but increases the risk of an error slowing them down.

Race - In race refueling is banned from A1 Grand Prix, so you just need to decide your tire strategy. There are two compounds available, Hard and Soft. One set of Hards are expected to last around 50 laps. Softs around 30. Safety cars will feature in the series so you need to decide how you want to react to any SC sessions that occur.

Race Distances
A1 Grand Prix - 92 laps (300km)
A2 Grand Prix - 61 laps (200km)
A3 Grand Prix - 31 laps (100km)

Durban Weather Forecast
Friday (Practice) - 27° A shower or thunderstorm in spots.
Saturday (Qualifying) - 29° Mostly sunny with a thunderstorm.
Sunday (Race) - 29° Sunshine, a thunderstorm in spots.

Clashing Series
Daytona 24 Hours - Daytona
MRF Challenge - Madras
Toyota Racing Series New Zealand - Hampton Downs
Porsche Cup Middle East - Dubai
Formula Gulf 1000 - Dubai

Perez and Rahal are racing in the Daytona 24 Hours so you'll need to pick other drivers.
