Re: A1GP 2016 - Mexico A2 Up, Nominate for US and Canada

Post by tommykl »

Sorry about that, I've just been overwhelmed by deadlines.

Anyways, Belgium, Sweden, Malaysia and Zimbabwe will have the same drivers as before.

Belgium
Aggressive (both)
Hards to 35, softs to the end, stops at 48 and 61 (USA)
Softs to 20, then 40, hards to the end (Canada)
Same SC strategy as before (both)

Sweden
Conservative (US), Aggressive (Canada)
Hards all the way, stop at 39 (US)
Hards all the way, stop at 34 (Canada)
Same SC strategy as before (both)

Malaysia
Conservative (both)
Softs all the way, stops at 19, 38 and 57 (US)
Softs all the way, stops at 23 and 46 (Canada)
Same SC strategy as before (both)

Zimbabwe
Aggressive (US), Conservative (Canada)
Softs to 15, hards to the end (US)
Softs all the way, stop at 22 (Canada)
Same SC strategy as before (both)

Charles Leclerc won't be available for these two races as he'll be at the GP3 tests. Everyone else is available though.

France will race with Grosjean.
Strategies:
USA
Agressive, start on soft, will pit for softs on lap 15,30,45 and 60. SC: change tyres when within 5 laps range of planned pit stop,
Canada
Agressive, start on soft, pit on lap 23 and 46, do not react to SC.
I don't know what i want and i want it now!

I can take Ireland following Simtek withdrawal so I can have interest in each series.

Going to stick with Firman, going for aggressive qualifying in both.

USA: Start on softs, pit on lap 16 and finish with hards
Canada: Start on hards, pit on lap 30 and finish with softs.

Yeah he seems to be available.

Now that I've seen who raced in Blancpain at Misano, the following drivers who were signed for Canada are not available due to a date clash.

Netherlands Jeroen Bleekemolen is not available and neither would Robin Frijns.

Malaysia Jazemann Jaafar is not available for Canada.

Philippines Marlon Stockinger is not available for Canada.

Qualifying for the United States Grands Prix should be ran and up tomorrow. You may still make any changes for Canada until the US races have been ran.

I will like to take over Azerbaijan, and will run the Canadian GP like this:

Driver: Fakhraddin Mirzoev
Start on Softs, no pits
No Pitting under SC
Agressive qualifying strategy

Re: A1GP 2016 - United States Qualifying Up

Post by Samster »

Sorry guys but I'm struggling to find time to run this series the way I wanted to. The method I use to simulate races is more time consuming than I thought it would be and the schedule I'd set out is becoming a burden to keep up with. Also the fact its an identical car series just isn't interesting enough for me to keep on plodding with it. As such I'll be suspending this series indefinitely.

I may run something else that runs team budgets and car development that won't run to real time schedules, that way I can run whatever pace I have time for. Most likely this will be another attempt at the alternate CART series I never ran a race for a couple of years ago.

Very sorry to hear that Samster. If I had more time I'd volunteer to help you run it...

Perhaps if you ever wanted to go back to it you could just run A1?

Perhaps its just how would I decide which nations make it into the series?

Continue with A1 in its current format. Put all the A2 teams into a pool and use an RNG to decide which teams get promoted each season. If that's too random for you, you could always assign higher probability to the stronger teams.

Re: A1GP - 2016 Cancelled, Will Return for 2017

Post by Samster »

Okay, I've decided what I am going to do with this. 2016 will officially be cancelled and be taken out of the history books and A1 Grand Prix will be started over for the 2017 season with just the top series. I'll be capping the amount of nations competing at 50 or 60 and a pre-qualifying system will decide who makes the actual race.

Anyone who wants to keep their nations for the 2017 season will be guaranteed those teams.

I won't be opening up the 2017 season until near the end of this year however so in the mean time I may try a more leisurely paced series.

Depending how much time I have when this does return I might be able to volunteer to run A2 - we'll see how things go.

I may run some exhibition races during the summer replacing what would have been the rest of 2016, to try out the new format. These will basically be a free-for-all where you'll be able to enter which ever nation you want to.

Re: A1GP - Trial for new format in September. Post entries n

Post by Samster »

I have decided on the new format for the series which will allow me to just run one tier and hopefully save me time with running this. Therefore in September I will be hosting a trial meeting for this format.

I realise more detailed info on the format in due course, but in summary it will limit the entry list to 50 full time nations for 2017 while other nations may enter up to six meetings per season with a limit of 10 part-timers per meeting. I will release a list of nations that will be granted full-time status in due course.

The grid size for the races themselves will remain at 32 with the starting lineup decided in similar fashion to the Daytona 500 with a pair of 50 km qualifying races.

There will also be a couple of special meetings to round out the rest of the 2016 season. The full schedule is shown below. The 2017 calender will also be announced in the next month.

New 2016 schedule

September 9-11 - 2017 Format Trial - Yas Marina Circuit
October 21-23 - A1GP Womens Grand Prix - Surfer's Paradise
December 2-4 - Young Drivers Test

You may start posting entries now. You may enter as many or little of your nations as you like. Though clashing restrictions on drivers will still apply.

Clashing with trial races
Indy Lights (and supports) - Laguna Seca
Auto GP/BOSS GP - Brno
Formula V8 3.5 (and supports) - Red Bull Ring
Super Formula (and supports) - Autopolis
European F3/DTM - Nurburgring
BRDC British F3/British GT - Donnington Park
French F4 - Le Mans
Formula 4 Italy - Vallelunga
SMP F4 - Ahvenisto
South East Asia F4 - Penbay
NASCAR Sprint/Xfinity - Richmond
Stock Car Brasil - Interlagos
WRC - China
