Sunday Afternoon Report:
Endurance Race:
Image

Autosport wrote:Harvey wins at Birmingham in front of home crowd

Tim Harvey has taken victory at the 8th round of the WTCM championship, held at the Birmingham SuperPrix circuit. The Kaliber driver was the sole remnant of the Kaliber armada, winning by a lap ahead of the Merkur RS500 driven by Scott Pruett and of the Zakspeed of Manuel Reuter that rounded up the top 3. The rain that hit the circuit in the final couple of laps proved quite hard, and Harvey made a good strategy call to extend his stint on the slick tyres, allowing him to increase his advantage further to Scott Pruett.
Klaus Ludwig finished 4th in the other Zakspeed, with Deborah Gregg in 5th place. Pete Halsmer completed the 1-2-3-4-5-6 to the Sierra's.

Klaus Niedwiedz finished in 7th place, taking victory in B Class. The german Volvo driver was quite a way behind Traverso and Hernandez, but he pitted later and took advantage of the changing conditions to take home victory in B Class, with Martin Schanche in 8th and Traverso in 9th, taking Toyota's best result of the year, and Hernandez rounding up the top 10, taking pole for the sprint race.

Marc Hessel finished in 11th place, taking victory in C Class, due to Roberto Ravaglia retiring with 15 laps to go. The italian was running in 7th place at the time, and dominated C Class, but the retirement proved costly and costed him 20 assured points. Jochen Mass finished 2nd in his WTCM debut on class, 12th overall, followed by Andersson in 13th, Perez-Sala (3rd in C Class) in 14th, with Cleland scoring his first points of the year in 15th place, and Asch in 16th.

Geoff Kimber-Smith, by finishing in 17th place overall, becomes the first ever D Class driver to score points in WTCM, ahead of Tiff Needel, who also scored points, with Bagnall rounding up the top 3 in class.

Sunday Report:
Sprint Race Results:

Autosport wrote:Harvey makes it a double at Birmingham

Tim Harvey has taken victory at the sprint race at Birmingham, making it a double victory at his home country for the british driver. The Kaliber driver stole the lead from Pete Halmser to lead 22 of the 26 laps, and win by 1.6 seconds from Andy Rouse, who stormed through the field to claim 2nd place. Rounding up the final podium stop was Steve Soper, completing the Kaliber 1-2-3, for british fans jubilation at Birmingham. Rounding up the top 5 was the Merkur RS500 of Pruett and the Kaliber of Roland Ratzenberger.
Deborah Gregg finished in 6th place, with Ludwig in 7th, Reuter 8th, Halsmer 9th and Schanche completed the top 10. Hernandez finished in 11th place, taking his first victory in B Class since Bathurst, and Andersson scored the final point.

C Class saw the Mercedes of Jochen Mass take its first victory of the year, in his debut weekend in WTCM, ahead of Luis Perez-Sala and Marc Hessel. D Class saw Andrea Geisler take victory ahead of Geoff Kimber-Smith and Tiff Needell.

So, with this, I'll update budgets and wiki in the next day or two.

Final entries for Monza, and updates, need to be post until the 2nd of September.

Favourite:
We have arrived at the "Cathedral of Speed", the quickest track in the calendar regarding speeds, the Autodromo Nationale di Monza, in Italy.
Of course, beeing a high speed circuit, it's more than expected to see the Kaliber Ford's dominate the field, with the Merkur Ford's, privateer Ford's and R31's fighting for the lower positions. Question marks belong to Holden, who migh be in their best circuit of the year, and might produce upsets.
C Class will struggle, and will have to hope for unreliability to fight for top positions.

Autosport wrote:Soper and Schneider win PQ races from pole position at Monza

The WTCM races at the Cathedral of Speed have began with the usual pre-qualfiying races, with Steve Soper and Bernd Schneider winning their respective races from pole position.

In the first pre-qualifying race of the day, Steve Soper won from pole position, with Kaliber obtaining the expect 1-2-3-4 in a high speed circuit, with Rouse, Ratzenberger and Harvey completing it in this this order. 2.5 seconds split the top 4, with their closest challenger beeing the leading privateer Ford of Scott Pruett, 8 seconds down on Soper. After Pruett, there was a 16 second gap to the next car, the Merkur RS500 of Deborah Gregg, followed by the Zakspeed's of Ludwig and Reuter, with Hasemi finishing 9th to take victory in B Class, ahead of Nagasaka, who was 10th.

In the second pre-qualifying race of the day, Bernd Schneider won from pole position, with less than 5 seconds splitting the top 8 of the race. Ravaglia finished 2nd, 3 tenths back, with C Class championship leader Roland Asch in 3rd place. Marc Hessel was 4th, with Armin Hahne returning to the qualifying positions by rounding up the top 5. Baldi, Perez-Sala, Danner, Laffite (with his best result of the season) and Theys rounded up the top 10. The big news in C Class was the qualifying of Luis Villamil, marking the first time this season Mediterranean Motorsport qualify for a race.
Andrea Geisler won D Class ahead of Antonio Amodio and Gareth Chapman, with Georg Alber in the last qualifying position and Gokor Peynirici rounding up the top 5.

Endurance Race:

Autosport wrote:Rouse revives championship hopes with victory at Monza

Leading 41 of the 60 laps of the race, Andy Rouse revives his championship bid by taking victory at the Monza Endurance Race, finishing 10 seconds ahead of Tim Harvey, with the other two Kaliber's of Ratzenberger and Soper rounding up the top 4. Scott Pruett was the last driver in the leading lap, finishing 5th and taking victory in the independent class.

Klaus Ludwig finished in 6th place, 2nd in independents, increasing his lead over his team-mate Manuel Reuter and stabilising his gap to Scott Pruett, and more it seems Ludwig will be Independent's Champion this year. Hoshino was 7th, taking victory in B Class, with Nagasaka in 8th, Niedwiedz in 9th and Traverso rounding up the top 10, guaranteeing sprint race pole position.

Bernd Schneider took his second class victory of the weekend, finishing 11th in the Mercedes, to take victory in C Class, followed by Armin Hahne, Didier Theys, Marc Hessel, Christian Danner, Mauro Baldi, Roberto Ravaglia and Mario Hytten who rounded up the points paying positions.

D Class saw Antonio Amodio take victory in class despite retiring, ahead of Gareth Chapman, with Geisler and Alber having retired.

Sunday Report:
Sprint Race:

Autosport wrote:Rouse gets double victory as Monza

Andy Rouse takes a double victory at Monza, as the british Kaliber driver won the sprint race at Monza ahead of Tim Harvey, Steve Soper and Roland Ratzenberger, completing another 1-2-3-4 for the Kaliber team. The british driver saw Tim Harvey get a brilliant start, from 9th to the lead by the end of lap 1, but came throuh gently through the pack to steal the lead from Harvey on lap 6 and going on to win the race by 3 seconds, setting fastest lap in the process.

Rounding up the top 5 was Scott Pruett, who takes his 4th consecutive independents win, with Niedzwiedz in 6th, taking victory in B Class. Ludwig finished in 7th, taking 2nd in independents, with a great drive from Deborah Gregg sees her finish in 8th place, followed by Traverso, Nagasaka, Hoshino and Perkins who rounded up the points paying positions.

Didier Theys finished 13th overall to take his first class victory of the year, ahead of Hahne and Schneider, while Andrea Geisler won D Class ahead of Antonio Amodio and Gareth Chapman.

I'll update budgets and championship standings in the next 48 hours. You have until the 11th of September to post updates and entries for Spa Francorchamps.

Favourites:
Through the forests of Spa, WTCM arrives for the 10th round of the season at famous belgian circuit. A full wet weekend expects the drivers, as Kaliber looks to be the dominant force once again despite the rain scheduled to hit the circuit in all sessions, as the Nissan's, privateer Ford's and the new Volvo 240 Turbo look to make a surprise today, and the C Class cars will hope the rain levels the field.

Autosport wrote:Harvey and Asch share PQ wins under the rain at Spa

The Spa pre-qualifying races fell victim to the usual weather at Spa, which due to its location deep inside a valley, can become quite erratic and changeable quickly. That's what happened at the pre-qualifying races.

Clouds started to come over the circuit as the formation lap kicked in, and by the time the cars were running halfway through the first lap, it started to poor down quite hard, eventually leading to a basically full wet race, but half a lap.

Race 1 saw 3 of the 4 Kaliber's finish the race to take 1-2-3 in the race, with championship and class championship leader Tim Harvey taking victory ahead of Andy Rouse and Steve Soper, the later taking his second consecutive pole positon in a PQ race. Roland Ratzenberger failed to finish the race, and has gotten a DNQ to his name, ending his championship hopes in the process. They were followed by the leading privateer RS500 of rain master Manuel Reuter, which led Deborah Gregg and Per-Gunnar Andersson, putting the Volvo in its first A Class race in 6th place, showing some quite strong pace over the race. 7th was Larry Perkins in the Holden, despite its clear struggles in the wet weather, with Nurmester, Pruett and Katayama rounding up the top 10, the japanese driver taking a very surprising victory in B Class, the first of his career. Martin Schanche finished in 11th place, showing strong pace in the rain, using all his rallycross skills to power his Sierra to 7th on the grid, and a bad strategy call dropped him to 11th place overall and 10th in class. Klaus Ludwig and Klaus Niedwiedz were the final two A Class drivers to qualify, finishing 13th and 14th overall.
Despite that, the biggest surprise ended up beeing who scored 2nd in B Class, with a tacticall call from Marco Micangeli propelling him to 2nd overall in Class and 12th overall in the race, with David Leslie rounding up the class podium in Class B. The Nissan's followed, with Hasemi leading Hernandez, the Rover of Percy and the B Class Championship leader Naoki Nagasaka, who went from last on the grid after problems in qualifying to finish 6th in Class. Cleland, Guidetti (placing 9th in Class, and qualifying the Maserati for the first time this year) and Meireles also qualified for the race.

For the second PQ race, Roland Asch took victory to increase his lead in the C Class Championship ahead of Jochen Mass, grabbing a Mercedes 1-2, with Fabien Giroix rounding up the top 3. Pole sitter Christian Danner finished in 4th place, with Didier Theys showing always strong pace in the pooring rain to finish in 5th, with Jean-Michel Martin in 6th, followed by Armin Hahne, Mauro Baldi, Adrian Campos (the first time he qualifies for the endurance race this year) and Brancatelli who rounded up the top 10, and who returns to the races after some races stuck in Pre-Qualifying. De Cesaris and Dalmas also scored class points, qualifying for the first time this year as well. Duez, Lohr, Perez-Sala and Johansson also qualified for the race, the first time 3 Alfa Romeo's qualified for the races.
