Our next Brazilian pay driver is Tarso Marques. Young Tarso has four offers remaining; he can choose to test for either Tyrrell or Jordan, or he can choose to race for either Forti or Minardi. Like any young aspiring paydriver he'd prefer to race, but getting a testing gig at a midtable team is weirdly enticing.

1-45 Minardi
46-48 Tyrrell
49-93 Forti
94-100 Jordan

17! Lamy will debut for Minardi this year.

Up next on the paydriver wheel of fortune is Andrea Montermini. The Italian has a testing offer from Jordan, as well as offers of a race seat from both Arrows and Forti. Montermini would prefer to drive, but again, testing for an established midtable team isn't a bad offer.

1-40 Forti
41-50 Jordan
51-100 Arrows

85! Montermini completes the racing line-up at Arrows.

Another RNG, another Brazilian pay-driver. This time it's the turn of Ricardo Rosset, who has the unenviable choice of either racing for Forti, or testing for one of Ligier, Jordan or Arrows. Again, he fancies making the step-up from F3000 to a raceseat, but testing for a midtable team is a viable alternative.

1-20 Ligier
21-70 Forti
71-80 Arrows
81-100 Jordan

56! Forti have their first driver, and Rosset has his F1 debut in the bag.

We're at that stage in the off-season where most seats have been taken, but one driver remains popular for his moolah. I'm talking about Giovanni Lavaggi, who has the offer of a race seat with Forti, or the offer of testing with one of Minardi, Tyrrell or Ligier. As always, the race seat takes precedence, followed by testing in order for bigger teams.

1-5 Minardi
6-25 Ligier
26-30 Tyrrell
31-100 Forti

23! Montermini takes up the testing berth at Ligier.

Luca Badoer only has one offer, that of a testing seat at Ferrari. He duly accepts.

Likewise, Gil de Ferran snaps up his sole offer; a testing contract with Williams.

Because of the way that the cards have fallen, Patrick Lemarie has been offered an entry into the world of open wheeled racing with a testing offer from Forti. He accepts. Finally, this frees up Norberto Fontana to accept a testing contract from Minardi.


2 things. Firstly, do I have Marquez or Lamy in my second seats as the driver name changes around the Rng (we have Marquez in bold font, but after the result it says I have Lamy) secondly my testing block is shown as empty but it also says that Fontana signed for me.

Ah, guess that's my comeuppance for RNG'ing at 2 in the morning. Both issues are just typos, a lack of concentration on my part. Tarso Marques is your driver, Lamy is driving for Ligier; and Fontana is your test driver, sorry.

Schiatterella brings 2 mill, Inoue brings 3. Your choice, either way you're mildly screwed in terms of car development.

As drivers will be more desperate for gainful employment at this point in the off-season, they'll be more likely to snap the first realistic offer that comes their way. To reflect this, I'll be running RNG's every evening regarding the day's offers until the grid is completed.

Tyrrell will go for Inoue. By the way, if you want I can produce liveries for the cars similar to the ones I did for BioBiro's F1 1984+ (some of them look quite different, such as the Sauber, which I've already done)

Since Berger is the only best driver still avaliable, Mclaren will try and lure him back to the team where he can end his career with us, whenever he feels :)

Ominous signs from Barcelona, as the Williams cars romped to the top of the timing screens without any real issues; the only problem for Williams this year seems to be deciding which one of their drivers will be allowed to win. Ferrari and Benetton appear to be relatively evenly balanced. McLaren seem to be in the no-mans land between the top 3 and the midfield, which appears to be more competitive than ever. Ligier, Jordan and Sauber all appear to have good cars, while Tyrrell have made a big step-up from last year. At the back, it could be a very long year ahead for Arrows, Minardi and Forti.

Teams can of course upgrade their cars between now and the first race, which I will start to run on Saturday. Teams can upgrade grip, speed, and reliability, and you can make small, medium or large upgrades in each area. Teams can upgrade in a maximum of two areas at a time. Small upgrades cost £250,000, medium cost £500,000 and large cost £1,000,000. Post upgrades in the thread pls. :P

Tyrrell will blow half our development budget ( :facepalm: ) with a small reliability upgrade, as this was our and Ford's shortcoming last year.

Proving that their times in pre-season testing were no fluke, Williams romped to the front row, with Ferrari obviously best of the rest. Benetton and McLaren appear evenly matched around the new Albert Park circuit. The midfield was as tight as ever, with strong laps from Barrichello's Sauber and Irvine's Tyrrell. Forti were the only team to fall foul of the 107% rule, with both drivers missing the cut.

If anyone's wondering about the seeming lack of progress beyond qualifying in this, fear not. Basically my laptop alternates between working, and not working, and the upshot of this is that simming 58 laps is a lottery when your laptop can die at any point. Currently simming it lap by lap, hopefully I'll have results up by Tuesday or so. Sorry for the delay and lack of communication.

Okay then, having reached lap 38 of 58, my laptop finally reached the point of no return, and committed suicide. Also, as I am a tremendous dunce, I neglected to email all the relevant spreadsheets to myself, so they were also lost in the Great Laptop Suicide of 2017. I have various bits of data written down on paper floating around so it's not completely catastrophic, but long story short I'm going to have to re-run the entire event; qualifying and all. Sorry about this everyone. :( :P

Alrighty chaps. You may have noticed me floating around the forums like a mildly alcoholic, sweary ghost recently, and alas, I have returned. Again. I also appear to have a working laptop again *touches wood, crosses fingers, pulls foot off of rabbit*, and thus, can run my spreadsheet based game of fun again.

Obviously there's a possibility that people involved in this series may have run off or no longer wish to participate; this is of course not fine at all, and anyone who wishes to pull out must duel me to the death.

Thus, if you've a team in this series, could you please post in here if you wish for me to carry on with this series or if you'd like to withdraw or whatever, ta.
