Suppliers!
Whilst some teams still need to get an engine supplier, it's time to move on the the final stage of the 1978 pre-season.
Suppliers
As there was a bit of confusion about this last year, I'll clarify the supplier situation. Suppliers and Tyres have been separated on the spreadsheet this year, mostly because they work in slightly different ways. Tyres are mandatory, and each team can choose only one option.
Suppliers are not mandatory. Like tyres, you can only have one active supplier, but you may bid for up to 3 suppliers to fill that slot. Suppliers are in three categories - Petroleum, Lubricants, and Parts. You can bid for ONE supplier from the petroleum and lubricant categories, but up to THREE from the Parts category. E.g.
1) Petroleum
2) Petroleum
3) Parts
is NOT valid, but
1) Parts
2) Petroleum
3) Parts
IS valid. HOWEVER, only ONE supplier will be signed for your team. (You also do not need to sign a fuel supplier in order to race). Like last year, be aware of the suppliers Brand Image, as this is important for the mid-season bonus. Each supplier has a preference for the team it supplied last year; however, teams are free to chose a different supplier than last year and face no repercussions.
Please use the following form for suppliers:
Teams have until 11:59 PM on Saturday 27th January to get their supplier AND engine choices in, or they will face consequences. muahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhah Renzos for you.
Suppliers
Da Rules wrote:NEW: Suppliers
- NEW: There are four types of supplier: Petroleum, Lubricant, Parts and Tyres. Each supplier brings benefits to the team.
- NEW: Each team M U S T sign a tyre supplier. All other suppliers are optional. Unlike last year, Tyres are own their own tab in the spreadsheet.
- NEW: Teams may choose ONE supplier from: Petoleum, Lubricant, and Parts.
- NEW: The amount of contracts available for a supplier is listed.
- NEW: The price listed is paid once to secure the supplier, and once to purchase the upgrade.
- NEW: Supplier upgrades come at random times, and an RNG will be run to determine the effectiveness of the upgrade.
- NEW: If more offers than number of contracts are received, an RNG will be run.
- NEW: Pay attention to the Brand Image.
- More information is provided on the Suppliers and Tyres tab of the spreadsheet.

1978 Argentine Grand Prix - Pre-Qualifying
The circus again rolls into Buenos Aires for the first round of the new season!
1978 Argentine Grand Prix - Pre-Qualifying
Results
1) Renault 3:47.774
2) Arrows-Ford 3:49.684
3) ATS-Ford 3:50.765
4) Minardi-Ford 3:52.117
5) Interscope-Ford 3:52.583
6) Hernandez-Ford 3:55.184
As pre-qualifying began, the sun was beating down hard - with track temperatures soaring, the circuit began to break up in some areas, resulting in slightly slower times than expected. Renault picked up where they left off in 1977 by topping the pre-Q timesheets, but their sights will be set on escaping Pre-Q once and for all. Newcomers Arrows impressed, with rookie Keke Rosberg more than having the measure of Gianfranco Brancatelli, as did Riccardo Patrese - however, Piercarlo Ghinzani could not get a good enough lap time in, causing Everest to fail to qualify. Joining Renault and Arrows in the main game is ATS, the pairing of Stommelen and Heyer turning in good, if not spectacular times. At the back, Interscope didn't have the pace to threaten the front runners, and Hernandez were unable to repeat their 1977 showing, with the now year-old car proving just too slow.

1978 Argentine Grand Prix - Qualifying
Results
Gilles Villeneuve heads into the Argentine Grand Prix with his first career pole position, but team-mate Scheckter and the Williams of Alan Jones kept him honest. Ferrari were the favourites for pole position heading into the event, but it was Alan Jones who topped the Friday session - and Villeneuve only dethroning him by 4 hundredths of a second come Saturday. Mario Andretti will line up third 3 tenths behind, ahead of Jody Scheckter, who couldn't string together a lap on Saturday. Further down, James Hunt is the first of the Brabhams and almost a second adrift, Didider Pironi is a shock 8th, and Elio de Angelis manages 10th on the grid for Alfas works return.
The biggest shock of the session was the evaporation of McLaren's pace. New signing Regazzoni could barely manage 12th on the grid, with Sneva sinking behind Robert Kagan - the Gas man was not happy at all following the session, storming straight out of the paddock. Keke Rosberg in the Arrows starts an impressive 14th on his debut, with fellow rookie Bobby Rahal in the Ensign not too far behind team-mate Peterson in 19th. At the bottom of the timesheets, Boro skirted close to DNQ territory, but it was Hans Heyer and Patrick Neve on his return to Formula One who failed to make the cut.

Re: Alt F1 1978 - "three's a crowd" - Suppliers AND Engines!
Renault have made the tough decision to terminate Jarier's contract after his time at Alfa Romeo is up, and we wish to extend Arnoux's contract for the remainder of the 1978 season
