Mid-Season Test 1 - Road America
Time to have our first test of the series - at Road America.
Anyways, lets get down to business.
You can choose whether or not you would like to run at this test. There is a flat fee of £100,000 for any teams that want to attend the test. Now you may be thinking, "what's the point", but hold your horses. There is a benefit to attending the test. If you do attend the test, then you will get an upgrade. You will have an upgrade in one of the usual areas (this will be RNGed) and you will receive an upgrade. Only difference is, there are chances of you getting a much bigger upgrade than normal (say, a +300 grip upgrade compared to what you would usually get). If Road America happens to appear on the calendar in 1987 as a race*, then you will get a small grip boost for having a better setup, and that driver will have a small grip boost for having knowledge of the circuit.
You can also dictate your driver lineups. Here is a list of options you can select for your driver lineups and what they mean below:
Keep regular drivers
Self-explanatory this one. You simply keep your two race drivers for the test.
Use one regular driver
For this, you use one of your regular race drivers, and you can choose another, different driver of your choice for you to use during the test, providing they are not in a race seat.
Using 2 new drivers
For this, you can use any 2 drivers that you wish to use. They can be either drivers from a feeder category (i.e. F3000), ex-F1 drivers or drivers from another series (i.e. CART), as long as they do not currently have a race seat in F1.
Selling one seat
You can choose to sell one seat. The way this works is you choose one driver, regular or not, then I will choose the other driver that you have to use. It will be completely random, so you could get someone good, or someone bad. That is the gamble.
If you do not respond, then I will assume you do not wish to participate in the test.
Use this format to respond:
You have until 20:00 BST on Friday 14th September to respond. Any questions, feel free to ask.

Williams - #1: Alain Prost - #2: Nigel Mansell
Tyrrell - #3: Jonathan Palmer - #4: Pierluigi Martini

Mid Season Test Session - Road America
Times
Upgrades
A lot of teams choosing to develop their cars for next year, which should perhaps shake up the grid for next year. Time will tell.
FIA Proposals
Following the Mid Season test at Road America, FISA have finished their evaluation of engine formulae, as it is scheduled to change in 1989. However, there are several options that you can review. Have a look at the options available, and vote accordingly.
Option A - Keep the current engine formula
Teams In Favour:
Williams
Zakspeed
Bleu
Option B - reintroduce naturally aspirated engines, at 3.5 litres, with a pop-off valve fitted to turbocharged engines that restricts them to 4.0 bar of pressure in 1987 - with a complete ban on turbos coming into force in 1989
Teams In Favour:
Option C - introduce a 3.0 twin turbo V8 formula in 1989, similar to CART - with customer chassis also being reintroduced
Teams In Favour:
Zakspeed
Benetton
Vote for your proposal as soon as you can. Thank you.

Re: F1 1986 - Detroit
WIlliams will go with option A - we believe this will be of benefit of current engine suppliers who have already invested greatly in the current F1 engine specifications do not wish a change in regulations so soon as this would increase R&D costs which would be passed on to teams

1986 Grand Prix de France
Qualifying
Race
DOTR: Brabham. More good form from the British team.
ROTR: Arrows. An engine failure and an 11th place isn't very good for them.
Upgrades and voting remain open as usual.
Also, if you wish to request an advance payment of your end-of-season prize money up to and including the latest race, then you may do so. However, if another team owner objects to your request within a week of your post, then it will not be complied with unless you can resonate with that user objecting and get them to withdraw your objection, in which case you will get it. Please note that this will also be deducted from your money that you will receive at the end of the season.

After long thinking, Zakspeed will change their opinion about future engine rules to Option A: Let's keep as it is...
Also: Did we get any money from Mr. Brayton? Meaning do we have enough money for another engine token.
(If we do, we take...)

You didn't get any money from selling one of your test seats; that is only a phrase for choosing a random driver for testing.
You are around £40,000 short of money to afford an engine upgrade.

1986 Shell Oils British Grand Prix
Qualifying
Race
DOTR: Alessandro Nannini, proving his win in Detroit wasn't exactly a fluke.
ROTR: Lotus; double retirement on the same lap early on from both drivers hitting each other. Rejectness in full swing.
Upgrades and voting are open as usual.
You can replace any of your drivers if you want to. Just leave a post and I will explain things further for you.
Engine Development
We will now begin engine development for 1987.
The way this works is simple. The engines have 3 performance factors, which are as follows:
Race Power: the amount of power your engine produces in a race.
Qualifying Power: the amount of power your engine produces in qualifying.
Reliability: how likely your engine is to blow up in a race.
All 5 engines (Honda, BMW, Ford, Zakspeed and Alfa Romeo) will start at the following values:
Race Power: 800 bhp
Qualifying Power: 1450 bhp
Reliability: 12000 CFP
After each race, you are given three points to invest in any value of your choosing. Each point is worth the following improvement:
Engine Power: +10 bhp
Qualifying Power: +5 bhp
Reliability: -1000 CFP
Each point costs £1,000,000 and for any value you are limited to ten points. Each works team for this year has been given an extra £10 million to account for these costs. From 1987 onwards, the works teams will finance these costs through engine contract costs: a works team will get 10% of the price a customer team pays. This will rise to 20% if a team has been with the same manufacturer for 3 seasons or more, beginning in 1987.
As the phrase above implies, teams can, from this point onwards, agree engine contracts with works teams with the five manufacturers mentioned above. You can make agreements freely, with £20,000,000 being the maximum price for an engine contract. You can add any clauses or agreements you want. Note that for an engine contract to become written in-game law, both sides must agree to the terms of the contract and it be visible to me.
The works teams and users controlling them are as below:
Honda - Williams - Collieafc
BMW - Brabham - SeedStriker
Ford - Lotus - Takagi
Zakspeed - Zakspeed - Iso Masa
Alfa Romeo - Arrows - This Could Be You
The users above, please post the following after every race, if you can that is.

Notes: The stewards have awarded Philippe Alliot with a 10-second time penalty for dangerous driving while defending against Thierry Boutsen by forcing the Belgian off the circuit several times. Teo Fabi has also been awarded a race ban by the stewards for causing a multiple car collision at the start of the race and dangerous driving. Bandon23 can nominate a replacement for Fabi to drive for Osella at the Hungarian Grand Prix if he so wishes to.
DOTR: René Arnoux. A podium finish marks a good return to form for the Frenchman.
ROTR: Teo Fabi. Manages to get himself a race ban by causing a multi-car pile up. Good job.
Championship Standings
Upgrades are open as usual.
