IIDOTR - Saudi Arabia 2022 (RESULTS)

Post by Londoner »

1. Mick Schumacher's Haas. Trial by Saudi deathtrack and it passed with flying colours, thank heavens.

2. Lando Norris. 7th in that boat of a car, nice job.

1. Lando Norris - somehow dragged that tugboat into 7th, nearly had 6th. Fair play.

Racing Intelligence - in an era of "If gap, car", today for once actually motorsport showed itself to be the cranial sport it inherently is

Norris: Just 0.107 off a top 6 finish in that wagon is a great effort

The quality of the race: I thought this’d just be a demo derby but most of the retirements were mechanical

1 Lando Norris. Outdriving that Mclaren. Worrying for Danny ric that Norris has looked a lot stronger in the first 2 races.

2 50 Laps of that Grand Prix. No drivers were injured in the actual race. Thank god for that. They must have paid a fortune for the safety licence because I cannot see how on earth it would have passed without a few backhanded.

1) Lando Norris: Exceptional race performance in a very poor car.

2) The fight for the lead: These regulations might actually be working for close competition; may be the case that DRS could be able to go away eventually.

1) Lando Norris, somehow dragging that McLaren to 7th.

2) The quality of the racing overall. It's refreshing to not needing a shitshow(if we neglect the events on Friday for a moment) to get action in a race.

Lando Norris: Where did that come from? Amazing result with what was one of the worst cars in Bahrain.

Going for Lando as first choice, and Russell as 2nd choice - thrashed Hamilton all weekend.

1. Unreability - Is this a Bruno Michel moment?

2. Lando Norris - McLaren improved quite a bit this weekend (Ricky was running ahead of Lando when his engine died) but 7th was clearly still unexpected.

(1) FIA/Race Control for their minimalist hands off approach to the race. I was expecting a safety car when Ricciardo and Alonso were parked in the pit lane entrance but it seemed to work out OK.

(2) Otmar Szafnauer for his "letting them race" comments whilst Ocon and Alonso were at it. One could almost hear his teeth grinding.

1. Lando Norris - Got lucky with the VSC and stuff but gotta make your luck. Had a great race to get into the points and was so close to overtaking Ocon.

Due to a mistake on my part, no IIDOTR candidate will be awarded for Saudi Arabia. In my intention to decide the fate of ROTR, it totally slipped my mind that there was no reason not to hold the IIDOTR poll anyway. By the time I realised this error, it was too late. However, I mention some of the most popular feelgood candidates in the race report, which you can read here.
