Alright, some business is required.

First, the sales price for the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo is set at 330,000 credits.

Secondly, Mitsubishi's schedule is slightly altered. Minna Sillankorva will enter the Rally Kenya instead of the Rally New Zealand in her part-time schedule.

Thirdly, Mitsubishi makes the following offers:
Luis Climent will be offered 4,000 cr per outing to drive the Rally Portugal and Rally Spain.
Juha Kankkunen will be offered 200,000 cr per outing to drive the Rally Australia and Rally GB.

Nominated point scorers:
Tommi Mäkinen/Kenjiro Shinozuka for all rounds unless mentioned otherwise.
Tommi Mäkinen/Minna Sillankorva for Rally Finland.
Tommi Mäkinen/Juha Kankkunen for Rally Australia and Rally GB if he signs the contract.

Regarding this; WRC teams can nominate three drivers for contructors' points but only the two best placed are counted. So only if you have four or more drivers do I need the names of three drivers. :)

Carlos Sainz becomes first ever non-Nordic winner in Sweden

Carlos Sainz redeems himself after Monte Carlo retirement to win Rally Sweden after main rivals hit issues. The Ford driver scored only two fastest stage times but kept his car clean throughout the 24-stage rally. Nordic drivers were on pace as Kenneth Eriksson (2 stage wins), Thomas Rådström (7 stage wins), Tommi Mäkinen (6 stage wins) and Marcus Grönholm (3 stage wins) all fought for victory but minor issues here and there prevented them from challenging Sainz in the end.

In the 2-Litre World Cup it was Škoda's snow specialist Per Svan who won by 13 seconds over his compatriot Jörgen Jonasson who drove a privately entered VW Golf. Nissan's Harri Rovanperä was firmly in the lead after 20 stages but an unfortunate mechanical issue dropped him the third in class. The 2L was dominated with Swedish and Finnish drivers as all stages were won by drivers from these countries: Svan (7 wins), Jonasson (6), Rovanperä (5), Laukkanen (4), Gardemeister (3), Joki (1).

Reminders of things expected of the managers:

Please post the price of your cars if you wish to sell cars to privateers.
WRC cars have a base value of 300.000 credits.
2-Litre cars have a base value of 60.000 credits.
Any asking price below these numbers will incur losses for the team.

Failure to post asking price before first car market will result in no cars sold.

You may buy upgrades at any point of the season!

No entries for Safari for Peugeot, but due to satisfying pace, Chatriot will be offered to drive a 4th car in Catalunya and San Remo as well (for the same wage conditions as Monte Carlo), Lopes will be rewarded by driving a third car in Portugal and Kris Princen will get an offer to drive a 4th car in Corsica for 1000 - we gonna put a lot of eggs in the asphalt basket to try to compete with Citroen for the PSA funds and try to embarass a bunch of WRC's.

We also request a reliability upgrade.

Noted. However, there is no "base rate" specified for Brighetti so I'll treat the offer as 10.000 cr/rally offer.

Reliability upgrade and bids noted. You might want to re-visit your manufacturer points scoring drivers in case you happen to sign your drivers if you want, for example, Chatriot to score points. But we'll get back to that after the RNG's and Safari.

Colin McRae comes on top after a thriller with Mäkinen

It's safe to say Safari Rally has never been as tightly battled as it was this time around. After early leader Carlos Sainz lost 11 minutes stuck in a ditch on stage 4, it was Mäkinen and McRae who traded the lead in a thrilling battle for the crown of Africa. Before the last, 115,70 km Olepolos 2 stage, Mäkinen's lead over McRae was just 0,7 seconds; totally unheard of in Safari where gaps are normally measured in minutes and hours! In the end it was the Subaru driver McRae who was faster of the two by over two and a half minutes. Thus, the Scotsman got to celebrate his second win of the season which sees him retake the championship lead from teammate Richard Burns who finished sixth.

The 2-Litre World Cup competition was a race of attrition. One by one the pre-race favourites Blomqvist, Rovanperä, Weber and many more regular runners retired with various issues, leaving the duo of Gwyndaf Evans and Manfred Stohl to fight for victory. Evans was looking like the stronger of the two but persistent mechanical woes costing him over 10 minutes on the final day of the rally cost him the victory. Volkswagen's week in Kenya was made even sweeter as Raimund Baumschlager strolled to the finish third in class, although he was 44 minutes slower than rally winning teammate Stohl. Baumschlager however was not nominated to score 2L World Cup points but Stohl's win is still enough to get VW to joint second in the standings.

Mäkinen takes his maiden win of the season after rivals falter

The rally had barely even started when two championship contenders, Richard Burns and Carlos Sainz, were already out of the race. Mäkinen was the early favourite but mechanical issues dropped him to third on stage 8, behind McRae and Grönholm who was having the rally of his life in second. Mäkinen began his fightback but was unable to close the gap down significantly to McRae. Unfortunately for the Scotsman his Subaru lost all power on stage 29 of 31, forcing him to retire. Mäkinen and McRae were clearly the two best drivers of the weekend with 25 fastest stage times between them. Other six went to Fords: Sainz (1), Grönholm (1) and Loix (4 fastest times).

The 2-Litre World Cup rally was an extremely tight affair. Rui Madeira, Harri Rovanperä, Gwyndaf Evans traded the lead all Friday but it was VW's Manfred Stohl who led the field into night service with the other three within 20 seconds of the Austrian. Škoda's Ari Mökkönen and local driver Macedo were another 20 seconds off them. Stohl upped his pace on Saturday gaining more gap to Rovanperä but unfortunately he crashed out on stage 19. Rovanperä would hold on to the lead and win the rally. Nissan's local ace Rui Madeira was running second until the last stage but mechanical issues costing him 2,5 minutes prevented a brilliant 1-2 from Nissan as Madeira dropped to fifth overall. Mökkönen, running fourth, also suffered mechanical issues but he lost almost six minutes, dropping him to 10th in his Škoda début. Peugeot's Adruzilo Lopes was the main beneficiary grabbing third place in the finish. Unfortunately he wasn't nominated as a scoring driver and thus Peugeot had to leave Portugal empty-handed.

We are glad that Lopes took his reward rally serious, even if he wasn't nominated, if he keeps up these kind of performances, he might get more drives in 1998, de mévius, well it does not seem he will be around in 1998 anymore...

For catalunya well have Bernardini and Lopes as nominated drivers, it's up to Chatriot to prove he desevers the nominated spot later in san remo. De mévius, well, he exists :P

Sainz dominates home event

Home favourite Carlos Sainz has won the Rally Catalunya following a commanding display. Sainz took the lead on stage 2 of 18 and never looked back, quickly extending his gap to his closest rivals to a minute. With six stage wins to his name Sainz was never in trouble. Colin McRae had the most stage wins with seven to his name but couldn't match Sainz' pace over the whole weekend. It was however enough for second, narrowly pipping Tommi Mäkinen on the last stage of the rally.

Gilles Panizzi finished fourth overall in a Citroën Kit Car, winning the 2-Litre Cup class. Panizzi was challenging for overall podium for most of the rally (even had an overall stage win!) but a couple of small driving errors prevented him a podium finish. Next places in the 2L class went to Peugeot as Patrick Bernardini, who will switch to factory Subaru team for Corsica, finished second followed by team-mates Lopes and Chatriot. Grégoire de Mevius completed a fine Peugeot weekend in sixth while rivals Citroën filled the other positions in top-7. Fastest non-French car was Harri Rovanperä's Nissan but the Finn was never contending with the ultra-fast tarmac machines of the French.

As contractually agreed, Lopes and Roussilot will be nominated drivers, whilst De Mévius and Princen will drive the other cars.

Unless... if people are now convinced that the 306 is actually a fast car, roussillot's nominated spot could be up for grabs for 50000 for one rally for the following drivers:
François Delecour
Jean Alesi :P

If they can't find a deal of course benoit remains in the seat. Not the SEAT, the seat.

Delecour was not too impressed with Peugeot's pre-season offer for full-time seat but a one-off on Tour de Corse with highly competitive 306 Kit Car sounds intriguing.

81-100 Looking for something else
23! Delecour signs with Peugeot and will be nominated to score 2-Litre World Cup points for the French marque.

McRae wins on Corsica after Mäkinen crashes out

MItsubishi's Tommi Mäkinen emerged as the early favourite with four straight stage wins. Sainz and Panizzi (in a 2-litre Citroën) got one each as well as the first day of the rally concluded with Mäkinen leading Sainz by 16,5 seconds. McRae, Panizzi, Bugalski, Liatti and Burns were however within 50 seconds from the Finn. Liatti was the first to falter bu hitting the rock face on stage 8 costing him over a minute. Panizzi made a similar mistake on stage 9 but damaged his suspension too much and was forced to retire. Two stages later it was Mäkinen's turn to make a rare but costly mistake as he too went off the road and retired from the lead. Second day would conclude with McRae leading Sainz by 9 seconds with Bugalski and Burns over a minute behind already.

On Sunday it was all about McRae. The Scotsman had three stage wins to start the day, dropping Sainz a whopping 43 seconds on the morning loop. From there on McRae avoided any unnecessary risk and coasted to victory on the Mediterranean island. Burns completed Subaru's fine day with third after snatching one stage win on the last day of the rally and narrowly beating Ford's tarmac specialist Bugalski. Liatti in a privately entered Subaru fought back to a brilliant fifth place finish after numerous issues with his driving and car setup.

In the 2-Litre Cup Gilles Panizzi and François Delecour were regarded as the pre-rally favourites but neither could deliver. Delecour's rally ended in an off-road excursion already on stage 2 while Panizzi got to stage 9. Panizzi's team-mate Jesús Puras inherited the lead which he held until the finish with in commanding fashion: winning margin over local privateer Serge Jordan was almost 3,5 minutes! Peugeot's promising youngster Benoît Rousselot finished third ahead of second best points scoring entry, SEAT's Oriol Gómez. Peugeot's Adruzilo Lopes had been fighting for the class win before technical issues dropped him down to fifth.

Peugeot would love a power upgrade.
*Bernardini will drive the first car in Argentina and Greece.

*We'd like to ask Subaru if they're willing to loan us Thomas Radström for both Argentina, Greece and Finland. (he'll get 10000/ rally) Alternatively if he doesn't sign, we'll make the same offer to Alister McRae. If neither signs, de mévius will just do the rounds he's not already doing.

*Additionally, Chatriot will get an offer for Finland for the usual pay, and Princen and Rousselot for the UK rally, also for the usual pay. We'd like to evaluate all 3 drivers on gravel for future reference.

We decided to show up in gravel rallies anyway, because you never know.

Gabriel Raies is offered a factory Škoda for his home round (10.500).
1-90 Signs
91-100 Has an entry already line-up with a private Renault
30! Raies will be a points scoring entry for Škoda.

---

Peugeot Power upgrade yields 1 on a scale of 1-3 so Peugeot get some performance boost.

-

Peugeot want Thomas Rådström to contest Argentina, Greece and Finland for them (10.000/race).

1-75 If it ain't a 4WD, I'm not interested
76-90 Just Argentina if that's okay boss?
91-100 Sure!
31! Rådström is not interested to step down from WRC machinery.

-

Same deal but this time it's offered to the younger McRae, Alister (10.000/race).

1-65 Where do I sign?
66-95 Greece clashes with the British championship so just Argentina and Finland?
96-100 British championship is too important to contest WRC as well
80! McRae asks if the contract is valid for Argentina & Finland only.

-

Peugeot regular Chatriot is asked to drive for them in Finland as well (10.000).

1-90 Finland is of no interest to the asphalt specialist
91-100 Sure why not!
6! Chatriot is not interested in gravel rounds.

-

Kris Princen and Benoît Rousselot are offered a Peugeot seat for season-ending RAC Rally (1000 each).

RNG ranges are the same for them both:
1-50 Signed!
51-90 More pay or a more concrete promise of further contract would sweeten the deal.
91-100 Not interested.
Princen 48! The Belgian ponders for a while but decides not to pass on the opportunity.
Rousselot 63! The Frenchman however demands more pay or options of further rounds if he is to consider signing again.

TO DECIDE:
Do you accept McRae's counter-offer? If yes, will de Mevius drive in Greece?
Make a new offer for Rousselot if you want to negotiate with hime further.

Alt-WRC will return with Rally Argentina next week

McRae's couter offer is accepted

if rousselot wants more rallyes, it's Greece and or finland, take it or leave it. Young drivers don't get to be cocky. Else indeed De Mévius will be asked to turn up.
I don't know what i want and i want it now!
