Infinite Improbability Drive of the Race - Mexico 2022

Post by Londoner »

1. Ross Chastain. No, I still don't believe it either. Actually managed to make a Playstation move work to lock himself into the championship four at Phoenix next week.

2. The mariachi F1 theme. A nice touch for the weekend.

Nothing in the race was IIDOTR worthy.

1. Marriachi F1 theme. The most enjoyable part of the pre and post race.

2. Aislabie fixed a cabinet. It was the most enjoyable part of the race.

1) Mariachi F1 theme: Yeah, that's a pretty nice take on the theme.

2) ...

  1. Alex Albon for dragging that Williams to 12th. I don't envy him next time out at Interlagos.
  2. Uh...Bottas for holding onto a points finish.

The mariachi band version of the F1 theme.

Nothing else really noteworthy happened.

The Mexican F1 theme is a banger, ngl.

Bottas for managing a rare Alfa points finish.

HM: Daniel Ricciardo. His performance was really good, made the best out of the better strategy compared to Lando. But his bumper car move on Tsunoda disqualified him from IIDOTR.

The Mariachi F1 theme: That was really catchy and shows you just how popular that theme has become since 2018

Daniel Ricciardo: Ok he wiped Tsunoda out but what he did next was a reminder of the old Daniel. A brilliant soft tyre strategy still helped him get to and keep hold of 7th.

HM: Valterri Bottas: Purely for a first points finish since Canada

Ok to be fair, IIDOTR could go to Ricciardo, but I feel he doesn't deserve it for punting Yuki out of his way at the start of his charge.

1- Danny Ric- yes he punted off Yuki- but then he came alive for the first and possibly last time in 2022 and finally showed something!!

2. The mariachi F1 theme- well it was something at least
Benetton of 1992. Never a reject

Not a dig at all, but is possibly the best driver in the sport winning in the fastest car in the field really that infinitely improbable?

Gotta agree with the mariachi band and Bottas. I'll bet nobody had him down for.scoring points in the Predicament Predictions.

I was about to give him RotR for that silly move but all credit to him - with no other credible nominations I'll have to go for Ricciardo. Made it work and I did not envisage him winning F1.5 under any circumstances.

Daniel Ricciardo for an impressive recovery, I was sure the penalty would cost him any chance at points. Apart from the Tsunoda crash, that was his best drive of the season.

I won't nominate some guy named Ross that I've never heard of before and wasn't even in Mexico.

8th generation 🍉 farmer (I’m not joking) Ross Chastain in what is literally in the top 10 of greatest moments in NASCAR history with that 10th to 5th run while slamming in to the wall!

Daniel Ricciardo - for making the long medium, soft end tyre strategy work so outstandingly well. He should be snapped up by Williams and the team should be renamed Red Bull Rejects!

And the Mariachi theme was pretty good...

1) Ross Chastain's final 2 corners - I have no metaphor. That was absolutely unreal, probably one of the craziest moments of 2022 motorsport.
2) the mariachi F1 soundtrack - that was a banger, can we have more of these?
HM :
Daniel Ricciardo - the collision with Yuki soured it a bit, but nonetheless a solid recovery from him to emerge best of the rest. If only he'd shown more of this early in 2022.

1. Ross Chastain - Better than anything ever pulled during the race or the year.

2. Mariachi F1 Theme - Based and cool.

HM to Daniel Ricciardo I guess, he had the right strategy

Just couldn't think of anyone or anything else at the time, all I could think of was the fact that it was his 14th win of the season, a new record.

Now I've had time to think about it, probably Lewis, he's getting closer and closer to ending that win drought of his and Mercedes'.

Daniel Ricciardo going for the double award this time out. There weren't many "strong" candidates for this award, so Nobody is again an option if you so choose. You have 48 hours to vote - the poll is at the top of this thread.
