1. Kevin Magnussen. That was an F1 moment we'll remember for years to come.

2. Charles Leclerc. Finished 4th in a car that was sticking out of the barriers on lap 7.

1. Mercedes: Got there in the end!
2. George Russell: See above.
3. K-Mag: Great first pole for the sprint race, after the last three seasons, that has got to be a great fillip for Haas. Would be higher were it not for his collision with Danny Ric.

1) Kevin Magnussen: Pity that his Grand Prix was scuppered, but that pole was something special.

2) George Russell: Outstanding performance throughout the whole weekend for his first win.

Honourable Mention: Charles Leclerc - great result given his misfortune at the start of the race with Norris.

K-Mag. I don’t think that needs any explanation

Leclerc: Recovered to 4th despite looking a certain retirement on lap 7. Even by the current spread of the field that’s impressive

HM: Alonso: 18th to 5th. He’s still got it

Magnussen, obviously

Russell, obviously

Mercedes, obviously

Bottas, for overcoming his mid-season pointless streak. Might have even been higher if not for the late safety car.

Oh, and Lance Stroll for scoring a point and beating his four times champion teammate.

Please stop nominating Merc for doing their job properly for the first time all season.

1- Alonso- Fighting with the top 3 teams- and beating both red bulls!!!

2- K-Mag- great Quali, did the best he could in the sprint then got taken out by a driver desperate for the ROTY trophy. Still good result

hm- Valtteri Bottas- finally woke up from the coma he has been in for quite a while and got points!

HM- (I don't care if people don't want him nominated-) George Russell- okay on Friday did many people expect him to cleanly race Verstappen in the sprint and then dominate the race and keep Hammy behind? I didn't. deserved DOTD more than Hammy though.

Alonso had an amazing recovery drive after a horrible sprint race (yes, I blame him for what happened). But I'll still pick Kevin Magnussen for pole with Haas, one of the biggest surprises in F1 history.

No. It is still improbable for the 2022 season. And not just a win but a 1-2 at that. With Verstappen nowhere to be seen. None could have predicted that before the race. In the predictions thread, everybody predicted Max either 1st or 2nd.

Gotta be Russell for me - I honestly never though it would be him who ended Mercedes' win drought rather than Hamilton.

HMs - Alonso - beating both Red Bulls

K-Mag - OK he was never going to hold it but FRiday was brilliant.

Bottas - best non-works driver (if you count Alpine as a works team)

Russell for a flawless weekend
Mercedes for being one point short of a perfect team score (S1, S3, P1, P2, FLAP)
K-Mag for getting pole position on Friday
Alonso for finishing ahead of Verstappen and Perez

1. Russell: A first win is a first win, and he delivered under immense pressure.

2. KMag: A first pole is a first pole, and luck aside he did what he had to do. I will say his defense in the Sprint was a bit neutered, but it doesn't change my opinion.

I'll give another HM to Vettel for his radio message when Stroll pushed him on the grass in the sprint. Just "OK" was genius. (Compare that with Alonso who'd be ranting and raving - looking forward to next year already with that one!)>

1 - I did not think that I'd ever hear the string of words "Kevin Magnussen on pole". At least he got a point out of it.
2 - If you told me that a midfielder had started in 18th place due to a disaster sprint and penalties, had been forced to pit early due to traffic, ended up with 3 stops in a race in which several drivers managed only 2, and one of those was a 10-second disaster, I wouldn't have expected the sentence to end with "and then he overtook Checo Pérez on track for P5".

Seems we are doing the sprint and the race so...

(1) KMag as the outstanding IIDOT2Rs

(2) Alpine for doing so badly in the sprint then so well in the race

KMag - Amazing display in qualifying
Alpine - They went from down the toilet during the sprint to through the roof in the race

Pretty simple three-horse race going into this one in terms of what is positively improbable! The poll as always is at the top of this thread. It lasts 48 hours, so get voting
