As Guy Ligier had overruled Ducarouge again to put on the upgrades before the race, tensions might be brewing between the two. Nevertheless Gérard can prove Guy wrong by doing good upgrades.

Following negotiations with their engine suppliers regarding the services of Rover factory driver Stephen South, sources within the team are publicly outraged by a process that has seen Osella name no announce no fewer than five drivers (Brambilla, Londono, Elgh - who will not drive, Guerrero, Elgh and Henton) before the circus even arrives in Monaco - this after confirmed contact with at least two further drivers (Watson and Gaillard).

This has all come as a great surprise to British Leyland, who made a handshake and written deal with the Italian squad to run South in their line-up from Monaco onwards.

"This is frankly shocking from the Osella team," said one senior source within the company, "what with this and Osella's prior non-compliance with our request regarding the promotion of our MG marque, this is a business relationship at breaking point."

What's more, the engine supplier has issued an ultimatum to the Italian team: "Either Osella runs Stephen South in one of its cars starting from Monaco, or it will very soon find itself without a supply of engines and have only itself to blame."

This author can confirm the veracity of the written communications between the Osella team and Rover-Hart engine programme. Further news will follow when we have it.
Out of character: Rover absolutely mean what they say. They see this as a last chance to save a crumbling working relationship with Osella.

This saga with Stephen South on top of the aforementioned event should serve as proof of the legitimacy of our stance, and send a stark warning to all other teams about the conduct of this cowboy outfit. Make it clear, nobody should trade with these shysters.

The sooner the fine sport of Formula One is ridden of these conniving charlatans, the sooner it shall prosper. Death to Osella!

AutoSport wrote:"Scarpetta must race", rules Mexican Court
A judge in Mexico City has ruled that Javier Scarpetta should take up his Osella seat for the Mexican Grand Prix, or the Italian squad will see their cars impounded. The ruling comes after Scarpetta was denied an outing in the Monaco Grand Prix, with engine supplier Rover pulling the strings to install Stephen South in the car after Scarpetta had signed a contract with Osella.

A source for Rover was quoted as saying "actions have consequences".
OOC: If Osella want to agree with the court ruling and run Scarpetta, they must either fire Guerrero or run Scarpetta in place of South.
If Osella do not want to agree with the court ruling, they will keep their line-up of Guerrero and South for at least another Grand Prix

Engine upgrades
Engine manufacturers can begin to upgrade their engines in a similar manner to last season. See below for the full rules.
Rules wrote: - There are 10 engine tokens that can be spent in-season
- Users will request how their tokens should be spent via Discord PM
- I will keep track of the tokens spent
- Each token will take 1 Grand Prix weekend to develop.
- You can use a maximum of 3 tokens each Grand Prix weekend, with a maximum allocation of 2 tokens per category per race weekend.
- Each token spent to upgrade a category will give you a small deficit in a different category.
- NEW: Each token has a value of 1/10 of the deficit to the maximum permitted value in each category. For example, if manufacturer A has a race bhp of 450, and the maximum for the season (set by me) is 500, they have a deficit of 50. Each token will therefore be worth 5 race bhp.
- NEW: Upgrades can be made available to customer teams, at a cost of whatever price the manufacturer deems fit. Subject to my approval
- NEW: I have reset all token spends to 0. Any upgrades have been incorporated into the base values.
Engine Spreadsheet

[https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... sp=sharing]Link[/url] in case table does not work properly for you.

Spending tokens

As an addendum, given we are approximately half-way through the season, I will raise the amount of tokens that can be spent until the Mexican GP to four tokens, three in any one category.

I am planning to run the race on Tuesday.

Engine manufacturers can request these via Discord PM.

Rejectsport wrote:ATS Kauhsen Appoint New Team Manager
Following the sudden dismissal of ATS Kaushen's former Team Manager, Jürgen Strunz, the team has rapidly announced his successor - one Dietrich Franz Armbrüster. An unknown amongst the F1 paddock, Armbrüster, 47, seems to have little experience within any kind of motorsports, having spent most of his working life at the Heckler & Koch firearms company. After working for ten years as a sales manager, Armbrüster abruptly left the company 2 years ago, instead taking a position at the Hockenheimring as the track manager there.

Paddock experts anticipated the German outfit to take their time in choosing a successor, with many believing Günter Schmid may attempt to reprise the role himself, having acted as Team Manager previously - but no-one has ever accused Schmid of taking even the halfway-sensible option before, and it seems he will not be breaking that reputation anytime soon. In the announcement, Schmid declared that, "the time for turnarounds is now," and that "ATS Kauhsen will be achieving podium results as soon as early next year". Willi Kauhsen was unavailable for comment.

Armbrüster himself stated the following:
"I am very grateful to Günter and Willi for giving me this opportunity of a lifetime. Certainly, I have always been a fanatic of Formula 1, and it has been a great pleasure to work at the Hockenheimring, and now to be named Team Manager for ATS Kauhsen... it is like a dream come true. Of course, the team results this season have been disappointing, but I have already spoken at length with Günter and Willi, and we are all in agreement that we will be pursuing an aggressive course of action to fully seize the potential of the team. I have already identified several points on which we can improve, and I expect we will be seeing a rapid improvement later in the season, before we begin the charge to victory in 1983."

When questioned on the details of these improvements, Armbrüster declined to elaborate. While there is undoubtedly room for improvement within the ATS Kauhsen team, it is difficult to see how a team which produced aerodynamics comparable to a brick can suddenly turn around and become a threat for podiums and wins - especially when the team arguably already has a pair of capable drivers at the wheel. But, as the inimitable Murray Walker so often likes to say, anything can happen in Formula 1 - and it usually does.
Looking at everything, ATS Kauhsen is doomed to die within a couple of seasons at best - so yeah, I'm here for a good time, not a long time. :P

That said, Günter Schmid is reportedly 'extremely upset' with the performances of Arnoux and Winkelhock, and Armbrüster also believes there is 'room for improvement' in that department. As such, they would like to enquire as to how much money the following drivers would be able to bring to the table:

Brett Lunger
Jan Lammers
Rupert Keegan
Christian Danner
Rolf Stommelen
Satoru Nakajima
Johnny Cecotto
Gianfranco Brancatelli
Michael Bleekemolen
Raul Boesel
Eliseo Salazar
Kevin Cogan
Hector Rebaque
Chico Serra
Harald Ertl
Slim Borgudd
Piercarlo Ghinzani
Geoff Lees
Kenny Acheson
Teo Fabi
Corrado Fabi
Mauro Baldi
Beppe Gabbiani
Jo Gartner
Siegried Stohr

Carlo Rossi
Anne-Charlotte Verney
Arie Luyendyk
Jim Crawford
Anders Olofsson
Thierry Tassin
Frank Jelinski
Rad Dougall
Alberto Colombo
Franz Konrad
Fritz Glatz, AKA "James Bald", and "Umberto Calvo"

Yes, I am throwing absolutely everything at the wall and seeing what sticks. No, I am not expecting half of these drivers to qualify for Tier 2 driver status, let alone find enough money to plug the massive holes in ATS' finances. :P

Interesting scenes unfolded on Friday, as the F1 paddock convened to begin practice for this year's Detroit Grand Prix. Following on from Dietrich Armbrüster's hiring as team manager for ATS Kauhsen, it seems the former Hockenheimring track manager has wasted no time in implementing his "aggressive course of action to fully seize the potential of the team". His course of action was, in fact, so aggressive and sudden, that ATS Kauhsen's drivers - well, former drivers - were completely unaware. At least, until they showed up at the garage, where they were promptly shouted out of the paddock entirely by an irate Günter Schmid.

Indeed, the future F1 careers of Manfred Winkelhock and René Arnoux are now very much in doubt, as they find themselves forced to pay for their own flights home - Winkelhock himself offering the following quote to Rejectsport:

"It is heartbreaking, I gave everything I could to this team and they have repaid me like this. I know we have had a disappointing start to the season, but to treat people like this... I just can't believe it. I feel heartbroken."

Armbrüster declined to comment on the manner of the dismissal of the teams' former drivers, citing it as an "internal matter". He was, however, very bullish on their replacements - two young South American talents. The first is Chilean Eliseo Salazar, returning to the F1 paddock after driving for Toleman for the majority of 1981, before a horrific crash during the Swiss Grand Prix sidelined him for the final 3 races of the year - and indeed, it was only in the past few days that Salazar announced that he would be able to begin racing again. Brazilian Raul Boesel, who came 3rd in British Formula 3 last year, will be filling in the other seat, making his Formula 1 debut in the process.

"I am very happy to be able to welcome two bright young stars to the Formula 1 paddock today," Armbrüster stated. "Both Raul and Eliseo have shown they have incredible talent, and the will to win. I have no doubt that they will be the foundation for the unprecedented success that ATS Kauhsen will soon be showing."

Many paddock insiders are doubtful that Armbrüsters words will ring even the slightest bit true, but stranger things have happened in F1... probably.
