With the FIA's discontinuation of Group 7 as the designation for Formula Cars, we require a new naming convention.
The B-spec of last year's car will be the Spartec G71C-R (the R referring to Rover), but the new chassis shall be known as the Spartec 14 (the 1 referring to Formula 1, and the 4 referring to it being our 4th such car).

Motor Sport Magazine wrote: Sue Jawhard's 1982 Season Preview
Here we are again as another classic season of the Formula One World Championship stretches out in front of us. McLaren and Regazzoni's successful campaign of 1981 still looms large in the rear view mirror, but we're already casting our collective gaze forward to the speedbump of Kyalami that we rapidly approach. Up and down the paddock we see changes that will usher in a brand new era of Grand Prix racing, but one that is very much a continuation of what went before. Let us start at the front of the grid:
McLaren-Renault
1. Clay Regazzoni
2. Jeremy-Etienne Voeckler
The Empire that is McLaren will be shaping up for another dominant season in 1982, and by bringing in Jeremy-Etienne Voeckler they have found a Boba Fett to Regazzoni's Darth Vader. The young Frenchman impressed for Arrows last year, and there's no reason to expect that McLaren will be anything other than the front-running team again this year.
Tyrrell-BMW
3. Harvey Jones
4. Keke Rosberg
For the first time in years, we see personnel changes at Tyrrell: Robert Kagan has moved on to bigger and better things, and Ken Tyrrell has made another incredible signing to replace him: seizing upon the broken relationship between Keke Rosberg and Frank Williams, he managed to tempt the 1982 vice-champion to the BMW-powered outfit. Tyrrell are a Big Team now.
Williams-Honda
5. Gilles Villeneuve
6. Alain Prost
Williams took last year's Championship down to the final Grand Prix despite a vastly underpowered engine, and for reasons unknown Frank Williams has barely stopped making changes since. Keke Rosberg found himself out of the team, and in comes a brand new Turbo engine supplier in the form of Honda. And not only that, but Williams have won the fight with Renault for Alain Prost's services. Who could possibly have seen it coming?
Brabham-TAG
7. Nelson Piquet
8. Riccardo Patrese
Bernie Ecclestone's mob have entered an arrangement with Porsche to supply a prototype turbo engine, but they have some troubles behind closed doors. Rumours have exclusively reached me that both Bernie and lead driver Nelson Piquet are beginning to lose interest in Formula One, and it seems unlikely that either of them will stay in the sport for the long term.
March-Rover
9. Derek Daly
10. Stephen South
The first of the teams to be using the brand new Rover engines this year, March look to have a driver pairing that's pretty much set in stone. Derek Daly appears to be demanded by the team's headline sponsor, while Stephen South has been recommended to the team by Rover following his shock departure from Spartec. There's no other way for this team to fit together.
Lotus-Ford
11. Nigel Mansell
12. John Watson
One of Britain's most historic teams, Lotus have struggled in recent years. After rumours that Colin Chapman did not see eye to eye with Alan Jones were borne out by the Australian's departure from the team, the Norfolk outfit will be looking for some new talent. I do not expect them to look any further than the Best of British, ex-Ferrari driver John Watson. He would be the natural fit alongside Nigel Mansell.
Renault
14. Jean-Pierre Jarier
15. Rikky Leiviska
We're hearing rumours from France that this could be Renault's year, but those rumours are coming from the French and the French cannot be trusted. After all, Renault had a horror year in 1981 that saw the number 14 car in utter disarray. Now they've lost Alain Prost to Williams, although Jean-Pierre Jarier is a multiple race winner in his stead. Rikky Leiviska also gets a promotion from his lowly ATS drive.
Arrow-BMW
18. Eddie Cheever
19. Thierry Boutsen
Jackie Oliver has made some aggressive signings this year. He has secured two new drivers since 1981: Eddie Cheever goes full-time after impressing the boss in his one-off outing last year, while the ambitious Thierry Boutsen finds a more permanent home on the F1 grid. This looks like an outfit that's pointing in the right direction.
Toleman-Rover
21. Mike Thackwell
22. Jonathan Palmer
The second Rover-powered team, Toleman has signed a pair of super talented drivers to take the team forward into 1982. This should be a team that everyone pays attention to, as it seems likely that they have at least one future World Champion in their ranks. Jonathan Palmer is also a doctor, which is pretty unique among young racing talents nowadays.
Alfa Romeo
23. Andrea de Cesaris
24. Michele Alboreto
The most Italian team in Formula One will be looking to be even more Italian this year. A team on the up, they've scarcely changed anything since last year's strong formula took them to number seven in the World Championship. Not only that, but the Italian outfit is introducing a turbocharged engine this year for the first time ever. This should be a big year for them.
Ligier-Renault
25. Thierry Boutsen
26. Patrick Tambay
This is a really exciting time to be a Ligier fan, as they have secured an engine from the leading manufacturer currently in the sport. When you add that to a pairing of two talented drivers, then we might even be lucky enough to see a Ligier race win this season. Patrick Tambay is particularly impressive, and has really grown into his role as a team leader.
Ferrari
27. Elio de Angelis
28. Guillaume Gauthier
There's a big change in the Ferrari ranks this year as John Watson has been let go to make room for Guillaume "Guillotine" Gauthier, who is best known for his involvements in the two fatal racing accidents that took the lives of Patrick Depailler and Didier Pironi. He will be looking to make sure he becomes known for something different as he takes on the challenge of a drive at Formula One's grandest team.
Rover
29. Robert Kagan
30. Derek Warwick
Britain's most ambitious team has taken another step forwards: now presenting as the factory Rover effort, the team formerly known as B&S Fabrications has signed 1981 race winner Robert Kagan to partner Derek Warwick in a powerhouse driver pairing. I've even heard rumours from engineers on their smoke breaks that the newly upgraded Rover engine might be the most powerful in Formula One history!
Osella-Rover
31. Vittorio Brambilla
32. Bruno Giacomelli
This is a team whose drivers have a real father and son vibe. Vittorio Brambilla must have thought he'd seen the last of a Formula One cockpit until he got the phone call from Formula One's second most influential Enzo. He is expected to pair Bruno Giacomelli, as Osella has described himself as "very happy" with his 1981 drivers.

Chassis information and current budgets can be found on the spreadsheet.
Engines
Engines are available to purchase from the engine manufacturers on the spreadsheet. You must contact them, preferably through Discord, to arrange the terms of your supply. The engines must be purchased at the listed price and for a maximum contract length of 1 year + a 1 year extension, but other than that....
McLaren, Lotus, Arrows, ATS need an engine supply.
Tyres
Tyres are mandatory. This year there are no other suppliers.
Please use the following form:
GPDA election
The maximum term of a GPDA chairman is 1 year, but there are no term limits.
The last GPDA chairman Stephen South is no longer a contracted race driver, so the position is now vacant. If there are no nominations, the position will remain vacant until there is a nomination.
To nominate a driver, please use the form below. The voting will be conducted in the usual manner - each user with a team gets two votes, each user with a DEC driver gets an additional vote, and the GPDA president user gets a further additional vote. These votes are cumulative.

Remember, the GPDA is the driver's method of holding FISA to account. The user representing the GPDA chairman can create issues and votes.Rules wrote: - The GPDA will be run by a Chairman, who must be an active Formula One driver at the time the vote for GPDA chairman is held.
- The Chairman has the power to summon a vote on an Issue of their choosing. The first issue will be decided by myself.
- As part of the voting process, the Chairman sets out what the terms of the vote will be. The Chairman can advocate for an action that a Grand Prix driver could reasonably achieve (e.g. no overthrowing Balestre, no starting a proxy war with the Soviet Union in the Middle East, etc)
- The Chairman will be elected at the start of every season. For 1981, I will elect the Chairman, who will last until the election at the start of the 1982 season.
- For real-life drivers, the Team Owner of their current contracted team can put them forward for election as Chairman. E.g., if I run Lotus and Jody Scheckter drives for me, I can put him forward for election as GPDA member.
- For DEC drivers, the DEC holder can put them forward for election, regardless of the team owner's position. E.g. If I am the DEC holder for Bob Smith, who is contracted to Lotus, I can put him up for election regardless of the Lotus team manager's opinion.
- Each team user will get two votes, one for each driver in their team. [For the first Issue, the Brabham manager - Frentzen - only has 1 vote.
- Each DEC holder has one vote, in addition to any votes they might hold as team owner.
- A DEC driver must be contracted to a race seat at the next event following the vote to be eligible to vote.
- The Chairman has one additional vote, in addition to any votes they may hold as team owner or DEC holder.
- A user registers their vote by posting in the forum, using the following template.
- A user with multiple votes may split their vote in any manner they choose.
- There may be more votes than drivers - this is a feature not a bug.

Autoweek Magazine wrote: Sparshott "gutted" that South has been left without a Formula One seat
Stephen South in a promotional shot for Rover Grand Prix.
Bob Sparshott, the Team Principal of the Rover Grand Prix team, has expressed that he is "gutted" not to have so far been able to find a seat for Stephen South on the 1982 Formula One grid.
"Stephen has been a crucial part of our team for the last two years, and he was firmly in our plans for the coming season too," said Sparshott, "but circumstances changed for us very suddenly when Ken Tyrrell chose to end his team's relationship with Robert [Kagan]. The opportunity to sign a driver with race-winning pedigree and a lucrative personal sponsor was simply too good to miss out on, and Stephen was unfortunate enough to be the only driver in our team not yet under contract at that time. I was personally gutted to let him down like that.
"We did everything we possibly could to place Stephen at another team, including most of our own customers, but we found them far less amenable than we had hoped." It has rumoured that Sparshott has reached out to March, Osella and Lotus to try to place South at their organisation, and this would seem to be borne out by Sparshott's next remark: "To see some of the drivers that teams have signed instead of Stephen is deeply frustrating: Surer, Wilson, Londono. None of these drivers are fit to lace Stephen's racing boots quite frankly."
So what of South's immediate future?
"We are continuing to work with and for Stephen at this time," Sparshott explained. "He will continue as the Rover test and reserve driver, and we will be continuing to attempt to work with these teams to place him in a racing seat for as much of this season as possible. In the meantime, we have also reached out to Tom Walkinshaw, who has agreed to offer some appearances in the BSCC if needed for to keep him race sharp.
"Stephen did not become the GPDA Chairman by accident, and we are confident that his future remains bright despite this temporary setback."

I will look at my tyre plans shortly, however in the meantime I'd like to use my three nominations for Vittorio Brambilla. As an elder statesman of the grid I feel he has a clear insight into where the sport has come from, and in which direction it must go.

News from Viry-Châtillon that Renault will be supplying Arrows as well as Ligier has raised alarm on the F1 grid, reports one Formula One insider who spoke to me on the condition of anonymity.
This new customer arrangement means that Renault has already doubled its supply to other teams on the grid, and I am exclusively hearing that this concern has been enough to drive McLaren away from resigning the engine supply for the 1982 season. This comes after McLaren signed the young French phenom Jeremy-Etienne Voeckler; a move interpreted by many as being made specifically at the request of Renault and Elf.
Will this cause chaos amongst Renault customers? Will it cause chaos for the Renault team itself? It is too early to say, even if early reports from the testing tracks in France suggest that the new Renault engine is considerably down on power. This will surely mean panic stations in Paris, and if they're not careful, could even jeopardise Renault's entire place in the sport.

The newest engine supplier on the Formula One grid is Rover; an evolution on the existing Hart engine that has been developed by B&S Fabrications, with the valuable financial backing that comes from being the Formula One programme of British Leyland.
The new Rover engine will be used by four teams: Spartec (as always), Toleman, March and Osella. Seeing this particular client list gives us a glimpse of what the Rover engine is: it is nothing more or less than the new Ford Cosworth DFV. That might seem like a big claim, but we only need to look at the facts: it's an engine built according to the newest fashions of Formula One, developed by a specialist engine builder but bankrolled by a major automotive manufacturer. It all fits.
The affordability of this new engine is one big thing it has going for it: much like the DFV, the Rover 415T is the engine that brings the most powerful engine on the grid within the reach of teams from up and down the Formula One grid.
Rover is the future, and we are lucky enough to be able to watch as it unfolds in front of us.

Driver 1: René Arnoux (Considering most of the awful losses and injuries of last year were French drivers we think it's best for a French driver to be GPDA chairman)
Votes: 2 (Osella)

Lotus will buy Fords.
We have long stated that Nigel Mansell will be running for gdpa chairman and are confused why he's not on the list.
For tyres:
1. Customer Goodyear
2. Works Pirelli
We will also use all our votes on Nigel Mansell. The reason you should vote for him is because he's actually a sensible person who will back the drivers against the operating body rather than the other way around. No more arbitrary disqualifications and no more knee jerk rule changes at the expense of drivers' health or careers.
In his spare time Nigel Mansell is a part-time policeman on the Isle of Man, so he is a responsible person used to authority and taking initiative. Do the sensible thing and vote for him.
