Infinite Improbability Drive of the Race - Austria 2023

Post by Londoner »

1. Lando Norris. Fighting for a podium on merit in that crapwagon, excellent stuff.

2. Ben Stokes. Nearly singlehandedly salvaged this Test for England, alas it wasn't enough :(

McLaren's Upgrades - I mean with Norris up in 5th, it looks like the upgrades really did the business. Norris looked really comfortable this race. With Piastri getting the upgrade next race, Alpine had better watch their backs as McLaren will be gunning for that 5th place in constructors.

Mainly Lando but HM to Ferrari. Think how exciting it would be without Red Bull (or even if Checo was number 1, Max never existed and someone crap was in that car instead) ;-)

Lando.

Possibly Elkmann's jazzy shirt.

And whoever is paying Croft to have a go at Kravitz when he says something stupid.

Lando Norris is the obvious choice; I'll be interested to see if Oscar Piastri garners the same benefits when he receives the new McLaren updates.

1- Lando Norris Hands down
2- Ferrari for actually being decent for once with strategy (it stopped Verstappen from leading a race for the first time in two months)- progress made
Benetton of 1992. Never a reject

1. Lando Norris
2. George Russell and Guanyu Zhou (due to both managing to complete the race without any track limit infringements)

1. Lando Norris - He's the second best driver in this championship. What is there more to say?

2. Fight to the death for Pnowhere - That was fun.

Lando Norris: I may not always agree with the Driver of the Day vote, but this time it went to the right driver. Obvious choice, really.

Russell & Zhou - Here me out but they were the only drivers who didn't have track limit issues or laps deleted per FIA

McLaren Upgrades - They look good.

Three (technically four) equal IIDOTRs for me right here:
Lando Norris - obvious one for the number 4 car
Ferrari - weren’t bottling it this race, and managed to be the first non-Red Bull leaders in a long time!
George Russell & Zhou Guanyu - did not emulate the rest of the field and their track limits antics

It would be funny if FortiWinks returned from his absence only to find out that I'm the Forti in town now.

Lando Norris and McLaren’s Upgrades: Ok so both driver and team have always gone well at Austria but to finish 4th on merit in the worst McLaren since 2018 while passing a Mercedes and comfortably having the measure of Aston Martin was an incredible performance. This was only the first of a 3 part upgrade and on this evidence it could be a season changer for them

George Russell/Zhou Guanyu: As mentioned the only 2 drivers who didn’t fall foul of track limits or have a lap time deleted. Even Verstappen who cruised around to victory had 1 lap deleted.
