The Andrew f1 Jerez review

Post by andrew »

After 2 months of pure boredom for f1 fans with no grand Prix or even any driving F1 was finally back with the new car launches (Barring Williams) The first winter test at Jerez and some intertrestion driver signings. Prehaps before the tests started the most interesting stories were Glock leaving and who will be Force India's 2nd driver.
We have 2 brand new young hopefuls joining f1 since the start of the winter, but more importantly we got a taster of cars on the track. So you did the first test go for the teams then?

Red Bull: Surely they have not shown their true pace yet, but they rarely do in winter testing however they had 4 solid days of solid pace and reliability so Red Bull look to have a good package

Ferrari: No Fernando at the test, will that hinder him? Most likely not as the don't go to Jerez again and it was just the first tuning. Yet Massa being first on day 3 will be a very good omen for Ferrari. Can Alonso finally clinch that title?

McLaren: A blistering time on day 1 sent a shiver down the spine of Felipe Massa , but that did't come without its problems after Button spent some of the day in the pits, neither did day 2 as Perez was forced to end his day early. However from then on after solid pace by the Mclaren boys

Lotus: What I would call a dark horse, the only team to be fastest on 2 days and the car seems reliable, anyway it has the approval of Kimi who says it is an improvement. but importantly will the Lotus still have great race pace?

Mercedes: An awful start turned good would be a description of their test. 2 days 2 breakdowns and not a comfortable start for Lewis Hamilton in the barriers, but magic mileage on day 3 and 4 also a 2nd on day 3 and Hamilton showing good pace in that car.

Sauber: A beautiful car and it looks fast as well, Hulkenburg has praised it for its corning. The times haven't lit up the time sheets but good pace anyway. their rookie seems to have settled in well with nice times.

Force India: surely not having a confirmed second driver will hurt them, their pace has been mixed with Di resta last on day 3 and 4 but second on day 2. Bianchi 2nd on his only day. Rossiter though has been midfield and solid. The car is also not reliable so not an impressive test for Force India

Williams: Bottas is settling well but we can't tell for sure as they are still using the old car.

Torro Rosso: This team have great pace and reliability, however there is a large possibility they are show boating to get more money

Caterham and Marussia: Both have 2 new drivers the Marussia was allot slower but will catch up as Caterham are not upgrading. however they will stay 10th and 11th as they let their star drivers go for pay drivers. The Marussia gas crashed and been unreliable already

And this deserves its own thread because? Was it really too hard to post this in the pre-season & testing thread?
