If the championship were decided on looks!

Post by Kobacrashi »

Welcome to the inevitable, which car/livery looks the best thread!

Obviously only a few have been released as yet, this thread is intended for the sole purpose of discussing which car will win based on looks only. So this is different from the launch thread. No comparisons just the one car you want to see get the most airtime when the season comes around.

I would have put up some pictures of the cars but i don't know how to. Probably because i am a technophobe.

My ordering so far is,

1 Renault
2 Toro Rosso
3 Ferrari
4 Mercedes
5 Sauber
6 Mclaren
7 Williams(Although they haven't launched yet i think it looks a bit ugly)
Kobayashi is back! Need I say more!

Not a fan of the shark fins I have to admit. Maybe I'll get use to them.
As i looked at my naked body in the mirror, i thought to myself,
"I'm going to get thrown out of Ikea any minute.".

I must say that the retro-looking Renault looks quite good. :)

In that case, I'll save you the bother. And to try to keep some balance, I've tried to pick images with all of the cars at similar angles.

So, ladies and gentlemen, take your pick (personally, I'd say that the STR5 looks quite good, whilst the Williams spoils it's looks with the awkward placement of the front camera winglets)

If the championship was to be decided based on the drivers' looks ... Renault would be screwed.

1. Renault - the livery is delish!
2. Mercedes - certainly looks the most effective and the most natural
3. McLaren - menacing, in a good way
4. Ferrari - meh.
5. Toro Rosso - meh.
6. Williams - the front wing is sickening
7. Sauber - menacing, in a genuinely terrifying way

Mercedes
Renault

1. Ferrari
2. Mercedes
3. Toro Rosso
4. Renault (the livery is beautiful, but I don't like the car)
5. Sauber
6. McLaren

By the way, what's with mounting rear view mirrors on the sidepods? I hate it, and last year Ferrari were the only ones to do it, now I've seen at least three teams doing it.

Renault by a mile - although i do have a weird fascination with the 1978 Le Mans winning bubble car so that might be it.

BTW the same website has a hilarious photo of Kobayashi looking waaaay p!ssed off. Surely shome mishtake?

1. Sauber - I can't look at photos of this car any more, because I get aroused by it
2. McLaren
3. Williams
4. Renault - The color scheme is growing on me, initially I thought this was the ugliest thing I'd ever seen
5. Mercedes
6. Toro Rosso
7. Ferrari - I'd put the Ferrari higher, but it looks rather boring compared to some of the radical things we've seen so far

The main factor of cars looks is whether or not it has a shark fin, otherwise Renault would be the runaway best looking car.

The Renualt is might purty, the yellow reminds me of Jordan.
The Ferrari is hideous.

The rest are just meh, though the variety and lack of white/red liverys is gratifiying.

So its only me that thinks the front of the renault looks fat and agly then. I agree that the colour scheme is good though.

If the championship were to be decided on the look of the liveries, it would look like this:

1 - Virgin
2 - Virgin
3 - Virgin
4 - Everyone else

Finally the resurgence of full-color liveries (aside from that hideous corporate white)! This might be an epic season indeed.:)

That front wing is very innovative I think. It shows it hasn't been designed by conventional methods.

It is a bit Midland MF1, but I think it looks so gorgeous partly because we were all expecting the Virgin to be yet another boring red and white car. Fingers crossed we get a green Lotus.

The Virgin car is beautiful if you ask me. Sadly it's missing a few features in the car shape. My favourite car design (ignoring livery) this season is the Pacchia.

some truly stunning paintjobs on some lovely shapes this season.

1. Virgin is a very plain car but OMG what a great paint job!!!

2. Mercedes, return of the 'silver arrow' while still managing to incorporate sponsors needs.

3. Renault, retro fangasm!!! if Lotus roll out a gold and black car then it'll be the 80s turbo era all over again.

4. McLaren, same old paint on a very nice car, looks so mean.

5. Sauber - I loved the Brawn from last year, and all the Sauber needs is Canon on the side pods and a few small sponsors and it'd be a looker.

6. Ferrari - too much white for me, prefer the black wings of 80s cars.

7. Williams - looks very plain and we haven't really seen it launced properly yet.

8. Torro Rosso - for a young energetic brand I just wish Red Bull would jazz up their cars a bit more.

Chewie
How ironic; Alonso loses because the Renault in front of him doesn't crash, or indeed feel inclined to pull over and let him pass!!!

For me so far....

1 - Virgin. I agree with everything you've all said. Work. Of. Art.
2 - Renault - Memories not only of early Renault, but 1997 Jordan.
3 - Merc. Silver and turquoise seem rather fetching.
4 - Toro Rosso. Same as it ever was.
5 - McLaren - Ditto, but the rounded high nose doesn't look as aggressive
6 - Ferrari - Dull, dull, dull
7 - Sauber (for now) - HELLO!!!!! SPONSORS???! WHERE ARE YOU!?!?! (seriously, if they get some backers they could yet climb off the bottom. Why not bring back the 1993/4 black livery?)
