2017 Spanish Grand Prix – Predicament Predictions!

Post by Rob Dylan »

Welcome to the 2017™ Formula™ 1™ Pirelli™ Spanish™ Grand Prix™ – Predicament Predictions!

As usual, the most exciting race of the year is upon us at Catalunya: Home of the Overtake. Shall Bottas ride the high from Russia and win again in Europe? Shall Red Bull get some more pace any time soon? Shall the McLarens start the race? All of these questions shall be answered! But beforehand must come the predictions. My predictions are as follows:

1. Lewis Hamilton
2. Valtteri Bottas
3. Max Verstappen
4. Sebastian Vettel
5. Daniel Ricciardo
6. Kimi Räikönnen
7. Felipe Massa
8. Sergio Perez
9. Esteban Ocon
10. Carlos Sainz Jr.

Pole: Valtteri Bottas
Fastest Lap: Kimi Räikönnen
First retirement: Daniil Kvyat
ROTR: Lance Stroll
IIDOTR: Max Verstappen
DBTMOTR: Daniil Kvyat
MLP: Esteban Ocon
DNQ: Fernando Alonso / Stoffel Vandoorne

And as usual, double points are permitted once a season for whenever you want to use them.

OK, so once again I greatly apologise for my slowness in getting these prediction results out there and for not organising the Monaco round. So, without further ado, here are the results from Spain:

1. RAK 28*
- Simtek 28*
3. tommykl 16

- AdrianBelmonte_ 16*
5. Aguvazk 15
- Dj_bereta 15
7. mario 14
8. This Could Be You 13
- dr-baker 13
10. Rob Dylan 12
- CoopsII 12
12. TheFlyingCaterham 9
- Bleu 9
- peteroli34 9
15. Ugncreativeusergname 8
- Enforcer 8
- yannicksamlad 8
18. Aislabie 7
- Normal32 7
20. Gonzales 6
21. CarloSpace 4
*used double points

So RAK and Simtek share the win with 28 points, using their double points to great effect. A great result for the latter as it is their debut this season! It has been a notably poor round for the championship leader Aislabie, and Tommykl was the highest single-points scorer. With 16 points earned, his score is the lowest high score in the first five rounds so far.

So after five rounds, the standings are cough:

1. Mario 85
2. Aislabie 81
3. Tommykl 73

4. AdrianBelmonte_ 70
5. CarloSpace 68
6. Enforcer 66
7. Rob Dylan 64
8. UgncreativeUsergname 63
9. CoopsII 63
10. dr-baker 63
11. Watka 62
12. RAK 61
13. Dj_bereta 55
14. This Could Be You 51
15. Yannicksamlad 50
16. pi314159 47
17. Normal32 41
18. Aguvazk 40
19. takagi_for_the_win 37
20. Ataxia 35
21. Miguel98 35
22. peteroli34 34
23. Simtek 28
24. mash 28
25. Pasta_Maldonado 26
26. Andrew 16
27. FullMetalJack 15
28. Dexter249 14
29. Dartanian 12
30. RedEyes504 12
31. DemocalypseNow 11
32. TheFlyingCaterham 9
33. Bleu 9
34. golic_2004 7
35. Gonzalez 6

Mario takes back the championship lead from Aislabie, and both Tommykl and AdrianBelmonte_ have closed in on the lead. Watka's absence from this round has meant he has dropped from 4th to 11th. We look forward to Round Six in Monaco next, which I will count up in the immediate future.
