Giancarlo Minardi for Mayor

Post by captainhappy »

Il Dotorre Minardi,

Is running for Mayor of Faenza in Italy! He intends to use his "vast" universe of contacts across the country and wants to "deploy the methods used in the sport with Minardi". What horrors for the people of Faenza could that statement imply?????? Will this inspire municipal-rejects.com to be born?

I'd vote for him, simply because he founded the second greatest Formula 1 team of all time.

In principle I'd vote for him, too. 8-)

But seeing as this is Berlusconi's party, I might think twice about it...

I am afraid that, as a non-postcommunist candidate, he has almost no chances in one of the reddest regions of Italy.

I wonder how he would go running the place on a low budget.

Minardi- one of the greatest teams ever.

Given how badly Arnold Schwarzenegger has done as Governor of California I don't hold out much hope for the guy. Being successful in 1 thing (or is that being a failure?) does not mean success in a completely differernt field.

Probably will mean they'll desing the town with an awkward aerodesing and compain the whole term that their installed power plants are not works but old customer, and that they are severily low budgeted.

This will mean that several political spots will be asigned to pay-politicians, leading in the end of the term to give the title of emperor to a noisy and whining australian entrepeneur for the sake of paying the debt.

but nothing of that really matters.... they'll have in Faenza the best capuccino.

Minardi's chassis were usually good-it was the engine's fault, in most cases, what determined thte team's fate, along with low budgets.
But I'm sure he'll do an OK job, all the while discovering new talents that will change the face of Italian politics

LoL.

update yourself. post-communists (sadly, because for certain things and interests they're necessary) aren't even on parliament here in Italy.

the "opposition" party (PD) has pratically nothing to do with "post-communism".

PS: here in Bologna... the so-called Bologna la Rossa, (Bologna the Red) we got from 2000 to 2004 a center-right Mayor. he did pratically nothing, like the last mayors.

You're implying that Minardi will also do nothing as mayor? But... but... that means he'll sell his seat to Paul Stoddart at the end of his term! ... and pay-politicians(that's what takes up 85% of the U.S. Congress), and... Alex Yoong?

According to the article here, it makes it clear that he is linking up with the right wing - in particular, the Northern League. http://www.autosport.com/news/grapevine.php/id/81065
So, he's probably going to be Berlusconi's man - at the very least, he is happy to keep the same company as he does. :(

Agree! One of my heroes has fallen.

So, seeing that the majority of italians here is definitely not Mr. B. fan, let's hope that Minardi sticks with his rejectdom-proneness and loses it.

beh, però lui era nazionalista. i leghisti sono secessionisti. sono proprio all'opposto come idea di base, in teoria.

però poi nel governo ci sono elementi sia post-nazionalisti che secessionisti... buffo, no?

Well... he lost!
http://www.repubblica.it/static/speciale/2010/elezioni/comunali/faenza.html#risultati

The new Faenza Major is Mr. Giovanni Malpezzi of the left-wing Democratic Party.
Minardi only managed to get the 31% of votes, in a round that saw his right-wing coalition winning many Municipalities and Regions!

It's worrying to note that although Malpezzi won by quite a margin, support for his party does seem to have fallen markedly, so although the proportion of the vote which Minardi received wasn't that much more then the last election (according to the results on La Repubblica), it has closed the polls up.
But that result was a bitter blow for those against Berluscioni - his position seems to be as solid as ever, tragically.

Si, è molto strano - altri ha usato numerosi altri lingue, e ci sono numerosi italiani qui, ma tutto è scritto in inglesi.
