F1 Rejects Fantasy Game - Join now!

Post by SuperAguri »

With the F1 season nearly here, so how about a complex but fun fantasy f1 game. There will be a prize for the person with the most points in the event of a tie there will be a tie breaker. There is also a wooden spoon prize for the person with the worst points total.

Choose wisely as you won't be able to change... :D

Choose a team and two drivers

No person may have the same team and driver set up and if this happens you will be asked to choose again.

You have $40m to spend on a team and 2 drivers. You can spend less then $40m (and get bonus points for doing so) but you may not spend more then $40m...

-3 points if Martin interupts a team member talking to your driver

No person may have the same team and driver set up and if this happens you will be asked to choose again.

Yes, rejectful actions score points. Things like winning and being fast count against you.

If Martin doesn't talk to the driver (as with the first video with Schumacher) then the driver won't lose any poiints).

Williams is a popular choice so far :P

I'm hoping Senna can lead me to glory because Kobayashi probably won't get me too many points.

Some of it is easy, some of it is more complex. But a mixture of scripts (to get times and names off websites), a BASIC (woo hoo high tech...) program (to work out points for practice, qualifying and race times) and a spreadsheet (adds all the points) will do most of it reasonably quickly. I still have to watch the race and note down things and enter that into the spreadsheet. I did a test using last years Monaco GP and it took me just under an hour to do. :)

Like the F1 Rejects podcast there may be some time after the race finishes before i post results though.

It's intresting to see the drivers that have been choosen the most... I hope people are choosig Kobayashi due to them liking him rather then people thinking he will be Mr Crash. Poor Kubica too.... And I assume people are thinking Trulli trainwreck... Still people are thinking are thinking that Schumacher will be the new Nigel Mansell (Mclaren) or Villenueve (BMW). At the bottom of the list, people are giving the usual suspects of Hamilton, Alonso, Vettel a wide berth but I am surprised at no one choosing Rosberg,Sutil and especially Alguersuari (!!!!) or the rookies Hulkenberg or di Grassi...

di Grassi's too expensive, and for that price, you can have Chandhok, who I think is a better choice for an F1 Rejects game, with his mediocre GP2 Series season finishes. I'll agree with you about Alguersuari and Hulkenberg, though, as they could make good choices this year, but Rosberg has a better team to support him, and Sutil has shown flashes of brilliance before.

It's intresting to see the drivers that have been choosen the most... I hope people are choosig Kobayashi due to them liking him rather then people thinking he will be Mr Crash. Poor Kubica too.... And I assume people are thinking Trulli trainwreck... Still people are thinking that Schumacher will be the new Nigel Mansell (Mclaren) or Villenueve (BMW). At the bottom of the list, people are giving the usual suspects of Hamilton, Alonso, Vettel a wide berth but I am surprised at no one choosing Rosberg,Sutil and especially Alguersuari (!!!!) or the rookies Hulkenberg or di Grassi...

I suppose most of us aren't really playng to win. This being F1 rejects, it would not feel right to spend the race hoping for the obvious underdog to fail.
Else, we would all be chosing Team Hispania.

And sorry for spaming, but may I respectfully make some respectful sugestions regarding the scoring.
1)I think drivers should also earn some points for being beaten by their teammates.
2) In the cas of retirements, there should be a large bonus for retiring from the lead (doubled if boh chosen drivers retire while leading, quadrupled if both drivers of chosen team retire while leading)

Just my humble sugestion.

Hmm, thank you for the good suggestions. However as I've already done the driver list, it would be unfair to add extra points now as it would affect the people that have already choosen their drivers. However I have made notes and will introduce something next year if this game goes well :D Be fun to see what works and what doesn't. Probably tweak points and gaps to make it more closer.

Also bear in mind that we all make our decisions based on the budget available. I'm sure that HRT is most likely to score points, but they're also the most expensive. That, coupled with the fact that teams don't have nearly the point-scoring potential of drivers based on your system, means that going for a better team and getting more rejectful drivers seems optimal at this point in time.
