Infinite Improbability Drive of the Race - America

Post by Londoner »

1. Carlos Sainz Jr - In just one weekend he's made Hulk look pretty ordinary, and Palmer look like one of the assorted scrubs that populate the M25 or M11 on a daily basis. :pantano:

2. Daniil Kvyat - If this was Kvyat's last stand in F1, he went out fighting.

Didn't ol' Jolyon do that himself? :pantano:

1. Carlos Sainz Jr - What Londoner said

2. Max Verstappen - It's a shame the stewards decided that track limits only exist on the last lap

1) Carlos Sainz, Jr.: Really impressive showing from him on his Renault debut.

2) Max Verstappen: Five second penalty aside, his recovery from his penalty was very impressive.

1. Carlos Sainz, Jr.: Great first race for Renault, scored almost as many points as Palmer did all season.
2. Brendon Hartley, Daniil Kvyat, Marcus Ericsson and Max Verstappen: Yes, a four-way tie, each getting 1.5 points for impressive driving in general.

IIDoTR:
1. Sainz: In his first weekend for Renault, he managed to match Hulkenburg's pace, fight with Force India and win, make the best (legal) overtaking move of the race and almost match Palmer's points contribution to Renault. He really will be one to watch for the rest of 2017 and beyond...
2. Kvyat: Proved what he could do on a good day (despite pressure from the team)- he qualified well, raced cleanly and brought the car home in the points, on a day so many other drivers rammed each other. Perhaps benching him has actually calmed him down a bit, and that can only be a good thing.
HM:
Massa: helped by strategy, but had the measure of Stroll easily when his F1 seat is under threat.
Verstappen: 16th to 3rd 4th!
Hartley: An OK (if a little slow) debut, but good nevertheless considering what little F1 experience he has.

1. Brendon Hartley - That was the very definition of improbable.

2. Daniil Kvyat - What we all needed.

Not voting Verstappen. Nothing he does surprises me anymore.

Zach Brown

McLaren Director did an interview with NBC during the race and when asked about the Renault failures dropped this bomb "Well they are pushing the horsepower limits so that's understandable. It's when you don't make horsepower and still have failures that there is a problem"

Boom! Gets all my points.

1. Sainz - great debut in an unfamiliar car.
2. Kvyat, showed how much he wanted the keep the drive for next year.

1/ Max Verstappen - For his podium. Because I personally agree with Mark Webber.

2/ Brendon Hartley - For actually making it into F1.

(2) Kvyat - solid and drama free

1. Sainz - Nice run in a Car that was literally Bathplugged since Palmer was on the team
2. Kvyat - As with what everyone has said so far

1. Verstappen - 16th to 4th - or, better, to 3rd. Only fifteen-ish seconds down on LewLew with one pitstop more and a ton of overtakes to do. This speaks for itself.
2. Ocon - For breaking :chilton: 's record of consecutive finishes as a rookie.

Regardless of this, there's one thing Esteban will never have that Max has: a place in the Reject Hall of Fame.

U.S.A. results are in, and we have a clear winner this week!

1. Carlos Sainz Jr. 126
2. Max Verstappen 59.5

3. Daniil Kvyat 55.5
4. Brendon Hartley 23.5
5. Marcus Ericsson 7.5
6. Zak Brown 10
- Ferrari strategists 10
8. Esteban Ocon 6

Carlos Sainz Jr. wins IIDOTR for the third time this year, putting him ahead of anyone else for the most times that award has been one by the same person / entity this season. A great drive in his first Renault race, showed up Hulkenberg somewhat, and got a great 7th place to show for it. Max Verstappen wins a close-fought runner up position, after his great drive through the field and almost-podium finish, regardless of the post-race result. Daniil Kvyat was a close third for his fifth last stand that saw him get a well-earned point in possibly his last race.
