Michael Schumacher - A perfect example of having all events conspire against you. On another day (and without the 5 grid penalty, a penalty I don't agree with...) he could've won the race.

Re: Customer cars debate

Is Bernie going senile with a memory like a colander or is he just trolling? In the second half of last season he was slating the new teams - Lotus/FTM/Caterham included - and telling them to sling their collective hooks. I don't think Bernie actually has a real opinion. He'll just say whatever wil...

Re: Lotus, Red Bull protesting Mercedes Rear Wing

Typical. Someone builds a better mousetrap and rather than working to catch up, some people protest it. Actually, I have a feeling the teams are both already looking into building their own system AND protesting it at the same time. It's just that getting the system banned works better for them sin...

Re: 2012 Australian Grand Prix Discussion Thread

Schumacher's race pace actually didn't look too bad. He was losing ground to the McLaren's, but not too much, and I think he was conserving his tyres for the time being. Vettel looked faster, but he didn't necessarily shoot up to the back of him, and probably wouldn't have passed him out on track a...

On a 1-10 scale with 6 being any given Nick Heidfeld performance. Vettel - 7 - Squeezed a bit more out of the car than Webber. Webber - 6 - Broke the curse, but had a pretty anonymous weekend. Button - 9 - Sublime race performance. It always looked like he had something in reserve if needed. If he h...

1. Maldonado
2. Pirelli tires - The spread between the prime and options seemed surprisingly well balanced and both tires appeared to be viable strategies. After years of one compound clearly being preferred at any given race weekend, this is definitely a nice change.

Some of my observations: 1) GRRRJJJNNNNN's pace wasn't out of nowhere. He has been up there all weekend. Of course probably nobody, including me, believed that he could keep it up in qualifying. Well, he showed up. 2) What's been lost in the hoopla is that Mercedes seems to have a genuinely fast car...

I'm going to go with the stewards. I know they were hoping Button would catch Vettel, but considering the dangerous the position of ...

Gotta give it to Webber for taking himself out in a way that could totally have been avoided if he had had a few working braincells on his drive back to the pits. Especially so because with the Red Bull, he should have recovered to take some decent points.
